Flyers’ Minor-League Winger is Named AHL Player of the Week
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Olle Lycksell was rewarded for his stellar performances last week.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms’ 24-year-old winger was named the AHL Player of the Week on Monday. He had five goals in a three-game stretch that spanned less than 48 hours.

The eruption included a pair of game-winning goals.

On Friday, Lycksell had his first career hat trick in the Phantoms’ 5-2 win in Springfield. In a 5-1 loss Saturday in Hartford, Lycksell scored Lehigh Valley’s lone goal.

Lycksell’s power-play goal Sunday was the game-winner in a 3-2 home victory over Springfield. He is now tied for the AHL lead with five goals.

Last season, his first in North America, the Sweden  native had 14 goals and 45 points in 53 games, finishing second on the Phantoms in scoring. He also had one assist in an eight-game stint with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Flyers selected Lycksell in the sixth round of the 2017 draft.  That was the year they took Nolan Patrick in the first round with the No. 2 overall pick.
