Get Flyer'd Up:
The Philadelphia Flyers have placed goaltender Michael Leighton on re-entry waivers, in an attempt to call him up. All NHL teams will have the ability to claim Leighton, though, he wouldn’t be eligible for the rest of the regular season or the playoffs. And said team would be responsible for half of Leighton’s salary.
Leighton helped lead the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals last season. He was signed to 2-year deal during the off-season only to be relegated to the AHL after reporting to camp with a previously undisclosed injury. Leighton has a record of 14-12-3 this season with the Adirondack Phantoms.
