Wayne Simmonds goes out with an injury, the Flyers fall to 2-6-0, and fans begin to panic. These were the main headlines after the Flyers recent loss to Washington. The Flyers returned home after a terrible week of hockey to take on the Carolina Hurricanes, who entered the game with a 3-3-0 record.
The Flyers offense started out slow but picked it up very quickly. An early power play gave the Flyers a chance to jump in front. Kurtis Foster jumped on the opportunity and netted his first in a Flyers uniform with assists from Matt Read and Sean Couturier.
A even-strength rush by the Hurricanes drew all five Flyers to the puck, which left room for Joni Pitkanen to net his first of the season on a pass from Eric Staal.

The NHL has suspended Washington Capitals defenseman John Erskine for three games for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds.
Erskine was punished Saturday for a hit he delivered to Simmonds' face that sent him to the ice with a bloody nose late in the first period of Washington's 3-2 victory on Friday night.
