Caps vs. Bruins: Getting the Jump on the Bear

We here at Rock the Red are big fans of the Boston Bruins' ad campaign featuring a big, furry bear highlighting the rules of hockey. He's pretty darn funny. In recent years, however, the same Bear has been pocking fun at Bruins Playoff opponents ranging from the Flyers to the Lightning to the Canucks. We here at Rock the Red know what's coming and we aren't just going...

Ciara Price is Slamming

So last week we posted an article Two Minutes for Hooking where Boston Bruins Forward Tyler Seguin was caught laughing at a sign that two cuties were holding up in the stands.  Well Tyler Seguin makes the Mug again, this time because he he was spotted hanging with Playboy's Miss November 2011 Ciara Price.  Ciara gives us the best of both worlds as she goes blonde and is...

And so it beings... Tim Thomas asked first White House question of series

In what may win the "Most Irrelevant Question of the Year" award, some dumbass reporter decided to ask Tim Thomas about him being MIA for the Bruins White House visit.  Tim Thomas was asked if he was concerned White House questions might kick up w/WASH as their opponent. He promptly shut down media session — Joe Haggerty (@HackswithHaggs) April 9, 2012 Tim...

Homerrific Mr. Irrelevant Staff Caps-Bruins Playoff Predictions

Tomorrow night a resilient Capitals team begins a best-of-seven playoff series against Boston. A collection of national experts expect the defending Stanley Cup champ Bruins to win the series, and it’s easy to understand why. The Bruins have one of the best goalies on the planet, Tim Thomas, while the Caps will start their third-stringer, Braden Holtby. But, you know what, screw...

Capitals, Bruins looking for more goals

Offense was the overriding theme at practice Friday, a day after the Bruins outlasted the Washington Capitals, 1-0, in Game 1 of their first round, Eastern Conference series. Surprise, surprise. After all, both goaltenders - Boston's Tim Thomas and Washington's Braden Holtby - stood out in the opener, and the teams combined for 37 blocked shots, as well. It was a defensive...

Tim Thomas Gives Bruins Advantage Over Alex Ovechkin, Capitals in First Round

Last year, the Bruins' postseason opened in familiar territory with a matchup against the hated Habs. It ended in a strange and wonderful new place, though, with the Bruins sitting atop duck boats as huge crowds lined the streets to cheer on the club, and that big shiny Cup they hadn't held in 39 years. This season the playoffs begin a little differently. Boston opens as...

Do Capitals Need To By Physical To Beat Bruins?

from Katie Carrera of Capitals Insider, The Bruins – or if you prefer, the big, bad Bruins – have a reputation for toughness. Their brand of hockey comes with physicality and snarl. They like to push teams around between whistles and get under opponents’ skin afterward. While fighting isn’t really common in the playoffs, one doesn’t need to drop the gloves to be tough...

Because It's the Cup - Boston Bruins

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are here. I have to admit that NBC Sports has come a long ways from the early days of Versus. This is the best time of year in my opinion, there is no other sport like NHL Hockey. Of Course I will be cheering on the defending Stanley Cup Champions the Boston Bruins.

Playing On Home Ice

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, 4. Boston Bruins Well, I guess you can ask the Vancouver Canucks to vouch for whether playing in Boston is any fun. The Canucks were destroyed in three games in Beantown during the 2011 Cup finals, which reinforced what a tough place it is to play in especially come playoff time. The Bruins are the NHL’s toughest, most rugged team and that meshes well...

Bruins-Capitals Series Notes

Early playoff exits for the Capitals over the past several seasons means they haven't built up the playoff rivalries some other teams have.  But just because Dale Hunter was still playing for the Caps the last time they faced the Bruins in the playoffs doesn't mean these two teams don't have a lot of familiarity with each other.  Beyond the four regular season games...
