A Boston Bruin hand delivered and personally gave a ‘Boston Strong’-resembled Army Rangers jacket to a young man who has overcame and continues to overcome many obstacles. He draped the Boston-famous Army Rangers jacket across the 19-year-old on Thursday, demonstrating what a class act is. The Army Rangers jacket has been a major symbol of strength for the city of Boston, following the Boston Bombings on Apr. 15, 2013. The jacket represents the mind-set of “Rangers lead the way.” Andrew Ference, former Boston Bruins defenseman, is leaving to play for the Edmonton Oilers, his hometown. However, his pre-departure included a stop by a house in a suburb outside of Boston, called Norwood. Ference announced, via twitter, that he gave his jacket to Matt Brown, a teenager from Norwood who, in January of 2010, was paralyzed in a high school ice hockey game as a 16-year-old. Brown has been a major inspiration for countless people, especially Boston Bruins players – in particular, Ference. The...

Andrew Ference Gives Bruins’ Army Ranger Jacket to Matt Brown (Photos)

Andrew Ference is making it more and more difficult to see him move on, as the former Bruins defenseman continues to prove that his legacy in Boston will go far beyond his on-ice contributions. Ference signed with the Edmonton Oilers last week, ending his time with the Bruins. Over the course of that Boston career, Ference not only helped the Bruins win the Stanley Cup in 2011, but...

Smart moves edge Edmonton Oilers toward contention

The Edmonton Oilers haven’t had a flashy off-season, but this team is clearly getting better.Geneal manager Craig MacTavish upgraded on the wing by swapping still-developing winger Magnus Paajarvi to the Blues with a second-round pick for David Perron, a highly-skilled winger capable of playing on one a top line.Perron is a clever give-and-go player who should fit nicely with his...

Ference gives special jacket to paralyzed fan

The Bruins Army Ranger jacket, which became a symbol of effort and sacrifice in the Bruins locker room after the Boston Marathon tragedy and during the Bruins Stanley Cup run this past season, was presented one last time by Andrew Ference today. After every game, it was given to the player who stepped up the most, who faced the challenge head on and bested it. It became an important...

The Edmonton Sun thinks the Oilers traded for Alex Pietrangelo

The Edmonton Sun was eager to discuss the Oilers' latest trade. Specifically, the trade which sent David Perron to Edmonton and Magnus Paajarvi to the St. Louis Blues. Maybe they were a bit too eager as they ran a rather hilarious cover story with one embarrassing blooper. Do you see the problem here? That's Alex Pietrangelo pictured above, a guy the Oilers have not...

Edmonton Oilers interested in Dion Phaneuf

Jonathan Willis of The Cult of Hockey: Former Maple Leafs assistant general manager Bill Watters was interviewed on Oilers Now on Friday, and he had both an interesting rumour and some harsh words for Toronto captain Dion Phaneuf. In part, here’s what he had to say: "Dion Phaneuf should be dispatched as soon as they possibly can and the story I hear is that Edmonton’s...

Richard Cloutier: MacT: A Lack of Moves?

I was reading a comment on an Oilers fan page on Facebook just now. There's so many Oilers fans still ripping General Manager Craig MacTavish for his inactivity so far this summer. I'm not sure I agree. You all remember the Summer of Steve? That was a few years ago, when then-Oilers GM made around six roster moves in one day. Added Andy Sutton, Ben Eager, Darcy Hordichuk...

Perron Trade Works For The Blues

from Bernie Miklasz of the St, Louis Post-Dispatch, The Blues are breaking up the Boy Band? Really?  This isn't quite to the level of Justin Timberlake leaving N Sync, but still... The beguiling forward David Perron, abundantly skilled but overpaid, is headed to Edmonton in exchange for forward Magnus Paajarvi and a 2nd round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft...

Oilers Ship Magnus Paajarvi to Blues for David Perron

The St. Louis Blues have traded David Perron to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Magnus Paajarvi and a 2014 second-round draft pick. This swap of recent first round picks highlights the fact that both player may have needed a change of scenery to thrive, and maybe more importantly, St. Louis still needs to resign franchise defenseman Alex Pietrangelo and power forward Chris...

Looking at Bruins Off-Season Moves (so far...)

Well, that Peter Chiarelli fella has been busier than a ten cent street walker on half off Thursdays. Signings. Big trades. Turtle waxing his head. We like about 95% of what he's done so far. In Chiarelli we trust. Here's our quick takes on the moves he's made so far. (EDITOR'S NOTE: JON DID NOT SPELL CHECK THIS POST BECAUSE HE IS A LAZY JERK TODAY) ...
