Help Wanted In New York – Is Anyone Out There
Just a few days ago I was feeling real good about the Rangers newly acquired depth F’s, Benn Ferriero and Jason Arnott. Then, just as soon as it happened, the Arnott deal fell apart after the veteran failed his physical and a few days after that captain Ryan Callahan appeared to have suffered a serious [...]
Is it time for the Rangers to draft a goaltender?
The Rangers are blessed with the King but shouldn’t assume he’s around forever.
The Rangers are in an enviable situation with Henrik Lundqvist manning their net at an age where he can continue playing at a high level for a long time behind what should be a contender for several seasons. The immediate future in net is bright, but those who think the club should sit back and...
Callahan May Not Be Out of the Woods
After hearing the news that Ryan Callahan will only miss 10 - 14 days with a shoulder subluxation, Rangers Nation exploded into obvious rejoice. However, there was one person who sent out a word of caution...
Quick warning ... though it's probably uncommon, another NYR captain, Barry Beck, had his career wrecked by recurring shoulder subluxations

Gilroy on D; Bickel on F; Cally & Kreider Talk Injuries
Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Matt Gilroy will make his 2013 season debut on the final defensive pair with Anton Stralman tonight vs. the Penguins. This move means that Stu Bickel will be moved up to play on the fourth line and Steve Eminger will again be a healthy scratch.
...welp, had to figure Gilroy would get a shot eventually and with the high scoring Pens...
The end of the tough seven game stretch
Rob Carr/Getty Images
The Rangers opened the season 3-4-0. Sure, it’s not the start everyone had envisioned, especially with both Ryan Callahan and Chris Kreider out with injuries, but it’s only marginally worse than last year’s 3-2-2 start through seven games. That start included four games against non-playoff teams. This year the Rangers played the Penguins twice, the Flyers...
Does Mashinter Deserve a Call-up?
Since the Rangers obtained Brandon Mashinter from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Tommy Grant, he has done nothing but impress for the CT Whale.
The 6' 4" Mashinter has 2g, 4a in his seven games with the Whale and has been more than willing to drop the gloves when necessary, as seen here in last night's 5-4, OT loss to Bridgeport (2:15 mark)...

Around the Farm: St. Croix, McColgan add to point totals in victories
The two Ranger prospects playing in the WHL padded their point totals last night, as Michael St. Croix (Edmonton Oil Kings) and Shane McColgan (Saskatoon Blades) both contributed assists in their teams respective victories. St. Croix now has 59 points (24-24-59) in 52 games, and McColgan has 46 points (11-35-46) in 46 games.
Both players are expected to join the Whale next season...
Perfect Home Stand Would Erase Rangers' Early Struggles
Much of the fan base was in the tizzy about how the New York Rangers opened the lockout-shortened season and rightfully so. They looked out-of-sync, a step slow and, at times, completely lost. Not the winning brand of hockey we've grown accustom to here. And not the type of hockey that will get you a spot in the playoffs for a chance to win a Stanley Cup that everyone has predicted...
Video: Torts, Players Talk Cally Injury
These videos were filmed before Ryan Callahan injury news was released...
...love seeing Torts staying so positive and confident about his team despite losing Callahan.
...while I'm just as guilty as the next guy for criticizing Torts on a multitude of issues, I can say that this guy cares about the success of the Rangers organization and his players. It's why...

Time to Push the Panic Button?
Can everybody just take a deep breath?
Yes, 3-4-0 is not the way you want to start a season, but give the Rangers some slack. They have had to begin their year with six games against three teams in the top-five in the Eastern Conference.
New York played the Bruins, Flyers and Penguins twice with a contest versus the Maple Leafs in between.
Now, this isn’t to say that the Blueshirts...
Blah
That is exactly the way the New York Rangers played tonight in their 3-0 shutout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden.
The Blueshirts failed to get many quality scoring chances, put too many pucks into the mid-section or right into Penguins' netminder Tomas Vokoun, ran into bad luck with hitting goal posts and struggled on the power play. The team also did...
