Rangers Danger:
Add another name to the long list of injured players for the New York Rangers. Winger Alex Frolov will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL in his right knee after Blues forward Brad Winchester fell on his leg in yesterday’s 2-1 win. Frolov had to be helped to the bench by a couple of teammates and only missed one shift as a result of the injury. But now, he’ll miss a lot more than that due to surgery.
Frolov was signed during the offseason to a 1-year contract worth $3 million to add another scoring threat alongside Marian Gaborik. But like all Rangers free agent acquisitions, this moved bombed and bombed pretty badly. In 43 games, the 28-year old had 7 goals and 9 assists, way off his career average of 54 points (prior to this year). He had been playing on the 4th line the past couple of games alongside Chris Drury and Dale Weise.
