Running With The Devils:
New Jersey Devils (0-0-0) @ New York Islanders (0-0-0)
In a few years we will stop having to visit that place they call an arena on Long Island and head to Brooklyn to play the Islanders but for now, we will continue to play in them in the Nassau Coliseum.
Here we go… CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?? Finally, after months and months of fighting over money and more money and contract terms and a whole bunch of stuff the average fan could care less about, it is time to drop the puck!!
This is the first preview so it will be kind of light because we really don’t know what to preview for tonight’s game but thank god there is finally a game.
It was very late in the 2011/2012 season where we last saw the Islanders. Their season was over, ours of course was not as the Devils just clinched a playoff spot a few days before. Travis Zajac playing in just his 5th game since returning from a very long injury put home the game winner. A lot had been made about this ...

Defenseman Bryce Salvador has been named the captain of the New Jersey Devils.
Coach Pete DeBoer announced the appointment after practice on Thursday, adding that Patrik Elias and Ilya Kovalchuk will remain the alternate captains.
Salvador replaces Zach Parise, who signed with Minnesota as a free agent after last season.
Salvador, who signed a three-year, $9.5 million pact in...
New York Islanders head coach Jack Capuano is out of the hospital following surgery to treat kidney stones, but it is unknown when he will make his season debut behind the bench.
Capuano was released Sunday morning after having surgery Saturday night, when the Islanders opened the season with a 2-1 home loss to the New Jersey Devils.
It wasn't until about 25 minutes before...
Rick DiPietro knows all about being kept away from the hockey rink when he wished he could play.
Injuries upon injuries have sidelined the man who should have been the New York Islanders' franchise player but instead became the punch line for the club that has struggled to stay relevant in the NHL.
But DiPietro is back with the Islanders, ready to get back on the ice for the...
The New York Islanders suspended defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky on Friday after he failed to report to the team and signed former Pittsburgh defenseman Brian Strait off waivers. Visnovsky, 36, has played in the Kontinental Hockey League in his native Russia during the lockout. He was traded to the Islanders from the Anaheim Ducks during the offseason. Visnovsky had told the Islanders...
Brian Strait has been claimed by the New York Islanders.
It looked like a risk sending him down...

The New Jersey Devils opened the 2013 season with a win against the division-rival New York Islanders. Martin Brodeur played well between the pipes, Travis Zajac and David Clarkson provided the offense, and the Devils jumped out to a quick two points.
I was extremely impressed with the pace of the game in the first period. The Devils moved the puck well and had a few good...

Martin Brodeur stopped 18 shots to increase his NHL wins record to 657.

With just one day remaining until the 2013 NHL season begins, we could see a familiar face back in the black and red by the time New Jersey opens the season against the New York Islanders.
The New Jersey Devils are among a group of six teams that have expressed interest in Scott Gomez, according to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet.
The Carolina Hurricanes, New York Islanders and Anaheim...
Just some news and notes for anyone who is interested before the Devils take on the Islanders tomorrow on the Island.
Bryce Salvador has been named the captain of the New Jersey Devils, replacing Zach Parise who has since moved on to play for Minnesota. Seems to be a pretty well-supported pick by the players.
“I think it’s a great choice,” said Ilya Kovalchuk to Tom...
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- The New Jersey Devils began their run as one of the NHL's most dominant teams during the last lockout-shortened season. Eighteen years later, the Devils are still playing the same efficient and collective type of hockey that's defined their generation of success. David Clarkson scored the tie-breaking goal with 11:43 left in the third period as the reigning...
Reaching the Stanley Cup finals hasn't made the New Jersey Devils one of the favorites to win the NHL title in this lockout-shortened season.
Far from it.
Despite returning Ilya Kovalchuk, Martin Brodeur and much of the club that came within two games of winning its fourth Cup, the Devils have a lot of doubters heading into the 48-game regular season, which begins Saturday...
No Zach Parise, no problem. The New Jersey Devils opened up a new era without their former captain in fine fashion as they topped the New York Islanders 2-1.
Here are some notes on the Devils 2-1 win as well as some prospect updates.
- Given the circumstances, things went about as well as they could have for the Devils. That was a big win for them to open the season as not...
Ryan Strome (Niagara IceDogs)
Oh boy here is how I make friends and become popular among the New York Islander faithful. What a surprise the Islanders are sending back to their junior teams Ryan Strome (2011 1st Niagara OHL) and Griffin Reinhart (2012 1st Edmonton WHL) after less than a week at the Islander's training camp.
Why bother bringing them at all? Please spare me...
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- David Clarkson scored the tie-breaking goal with 11:43 left in the third period as the reigning Eastern Conference champion New Jersey Devils edged the New York Islanders, 2-1, in the season opener for both teams Saturday night. Clarkson scored just 65 seconds after the Islanders' Travis Hamonic tied it with a power play goal. The sellout crowd of 16,170...
