Days of Y'Orr:
Bruins have what feels like their millionth back-to-back game in the past two months and yet another matinee game which the team has been awful at (4-7-2 this year). It really doesn't bold well stats wise for Boston, especially against a hot Penguin team that still doesn't have Sidney Crosby.Speaking of Crosby, he won't be suiting up against Boston. There was talk of it and then Crosby's head cleared up enough to remember what happened last time he took on resident goon David Krejci.Big question is who will be in net for Boston this afternoon? Timmy has played in eight straight games. We were really expecting the Bs to rest Timmy yesterday so he'd be ready to face the Penguins today but that didn't happen. So do the Bruins make it Turco Time against a well playing Penguins team or does Timmy play back-to-back games, his ninth straight game (fifth straight start). At this rate TImmy's gonna burn out by St. Paddy's Day.Poo-Poo Pouliot status is question...
BEST OF MAXIM
Marty Turco made his debut with the Boston Bruins after replacing Tim Thomas to start the second period of Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Turco made several stellar saves among his 20, but yielded two goals as the Penguins recorded their season-best ninth straight victory with a 5-2 triumph.
The 36-year-old Turco was playing in Austria prior to the Bruins signing...
The Bruins have struggled this year in matinee games, but "struggle" doesn't do the first period of Sunday's game against the Penguins justice. Whether it's the Bruins having a bad 20 minutes or just that the Pens are really, really good, NESN Nation's Dan Duquette was impressed by the Penguins without Sidney Crosby. But do they need Sid the Kid to contend...
Sidney Crosby said that he'll know Saturday whether or not he can play this Sunday against the Boston Bruins. Crosby suffered a concussion 15 months ago and made his return earlier this season on November 21st. He played eight games until some of his concussion-like symptoms returned which ended his short lived return. Since then, he has been out."(You) just kind of see...
The story of Sidney Crosby and his concussion added another chapter today as Crosby, who was rumoured to be returning tomorrow afternoon against the Boston Bruins, will miss at least one more game.
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, Crosby will sit out tomorrow’s game, but he is hopeful to return on Thursday night when the Penguins visit the New York Rangers. That doesn’t mean...
We weren't sure heading into Saturday's game whether Tim Thomas or Marty Turco would get the call in net for the Bruins. Turns out it's going to be Thomas, but having uncertainty in goal is actually a welcome question mark considering the many that have been surronding this team as of late. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is glad to worry about the team's netminder...
Is a Sidney Crosby return finally around the corner? Perhaps, but one player who has nearly the pedigree of Crosby has his own concussion issues, but is not receiving the attention that Sid the Kid is. I’ve included both players in my Pick Six for the weekend.
But first, here’s what you need to know heading into the weekend.
A total of 22 teams are in action on Saturday, while...
After practice today, Crosby was unsure about returning to action on Sunday.
He said he hasn’t had much practice time and no need to rush return now.
So, we wait another day to find out.
But if you want to read between the lines, what do you think?
via TSN, Sidney Crosby will not suit up on Sunday against the Boston Bruins, but is hopeful that he can play on Thursday against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
Crosby practiced on Saturday morning with the Penguins but did not skate on a regular line. He centred an extra line between Eric Tangradi and Dustin Jeffrey.
The 24-year-old superstar has no setback or symptoms...
We all know it's any day now we will witness the second coming of Sidney Crosby. But when 87 returns, who will be on his wings?Obviously the line of James Neal, Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz has been one of, if not the top line in the NHL. Adding a player like Crosby into a line like that sounds promising, but it's the wrong move. Why would you want to break up the chemistry...
With the NHL playoffs just one month away, every game on the NHL schedule takes on a greater meaning, especially for those teams who hope to advance to the playoffs. This week, FOX Sports' featured game pits the Pittsburgh Penguins at the New York Rangers in a key Atlantic Division contest. The Pens have had to go most the season without star Sidney Crosby, which means someone...
Sidney Crosby's return is drawing near, which may be very bad news for the rest of the league since the Pittsburgh Penguins have been rolling without him.
Pittsburgh seeks a season-high ninth consecutive victory by ending a three-game home skid to the Boston Bruins on Sunday.
The Penguins initially hoped Crosby could return in time to face Boston, but he approached the contest...
“I believe he will play the way he knows best, which is to compete at the highest level he can.”
“He is very strong mentally and will be ready for it. If he had any doubt about his abilities he wouldn’t risk it. Hockey is also what he loves to do.”
-Pat Brisson, player agent for Sidney Crosby. More on Crosby from Helene Elliott of the LA Times.
If the NHL playoffs had a selection show, the Bruins would be getting an invite to the dance thanks to their Northeast Division lead. But if the seedings were picked based on recent play instead of the standings, the Penguins might be getting a top seed as an at-large. The Pens are flying high right now, in the midst of an eight-game winning streak -- and doing it all without Sidney...
With the New York Rangers struggling to find the consistency that made them so successful for much of the season, tonight’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks will be a big test for the Blueshirts.
In last night’s 4-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators, the team looked out-of-sync in all areas of the game. This also happened to be the case in the team’s 4-1 loss to the New Jersey...
