Stars of Big D:
Dallas Stars (38-26-5, 81 pts) @ Minnesota Wild (29-30-10, 68 pts)
7:00 PM CT, March 13, 2012
Xcel Energy Center, Saint Paul, Minnesota
The red hot Dallas Stars look to continue their point streak tonight in a game against their northern rivals, the Minnesota Wild. After grueling games against some of the NHL's best, today's game against the Wild might be considered simple competition so Dallas needs to not have a letdown today and play to the level of the competition.
Dallas needs to come out hungry in this game or they'll fall into a monotonous lull that can kill a team. They're playing an untested goalie so they need to just plaster him with shots. The game tonight is first of a back-to-back so Dallas just needs to take care of business and move on. Play their game like they should and a win should follow.
It's all been sugar and sweets for the Stars lately. The goaltending has been stellar (like it has all season, Raycroft aside), the defensemen have bee...
BEST OF MAXIM
AROUND THE WEB
It was almost a month ago when the season seemed dead and gone. I will be the first to admit that I did not think the Dallas Stars had much chance of reviving their 2011-12 and figuring out a way to challenge hard for the playoffs for the first time in four years. You'll have to forgive my pessimism, but at the time, two straight wins was a rarity and three straight? Nearly impossible...
Three weeks ago the Dallas Stars were the subject of trade rumors as they dealt with injuries. They were uncertain about the future and on the outside looking in when it came to the playoff picture.
Today they are the object of praise as they sit in first place in the Pacific Division. They were riding a five-game winning streak and a 10-game point surge heading into Tuesday'...
ST. PAUL Minnesota Wild rookie goaltender Matt Hackett was coming off back-to-back starts in which he allowed four goals after a stellar opening to his NHL career.
Yet, he received the call again by coach Mike Yeo to start Tuesday night against the streaking Dallas Stars. As impressive as his first six games in a Minnesota uniform were, Tuesday might have been a truer indication...
MONDAY'S STORYLINE: "Everyone is a little grumpy today. I would have been a little concerned if there was a lot of 'ra ra' and happy guys out there," said Mike Yeo. "The response isn't today at practice, the response is tomorrow," added Yeo.
Tomorrow the Wild will take on the Dallas Stars and try to erase Sunday's 4-3 loss to Calgary. Yeo...
Dallas 1 - Minnesota 0
It certainly wasn't very pretty, but the Dallas Stars have now won a season high six straight games. The difference in this game once again was the stellar performance of Kari Lehtonen, who stopped 25 of 25 shots en route to his second straight shutout and fourth of the season, tying a career high.
The game last night got off to a frustratingly...
Jamie Benn's goal early in the third period and Kari Lehtonen's second consecutive shutout gave the Dallas Stars their sixth straight victory, 1-0 over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.
Benn scored for the third time in four games to give him 21 this season. He snagged a rink-wide pass from Brendan Morrow that glanced off Wild left wing Stephane Veilleux's stick and...
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Jamie Benn's goal early in the third period and Kari Lehtonen's second consecutive shutout gave the Dallas Stars their sixth straight victory, 1-0 over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.

The Dallas Stars' five-game winning streak and 9-0-1 run than has seen the club surge to first place in the Pacific Division has been the product of many little -- and not-so-little -- things coming together at the right time for the team.
If the Stars get at least four of the following five factors to continue going their way, they should be in good shape to at minimum hold...
CHICAGO, March 12—The Blackhawks have “agreed to terms” with forward Daniel Carcillo on a two-year contract extension.
Carcillo, 26, is amongst one of the NHL’s roughest players and it seems like he has finally found a home after stints with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers and the Phoenix Coyotes.
He’s put down such deep roots that he has his own classic...
PREVIEW 12:05 AM CDT
Winners of five in a row with a 10-game point streak (9-0-1), the pressure is the Pacific Division leading Dallas Stars (38-26-5) to keep on winning games in order to preserve the third seed in the Western Conference. Tonight, the Stars begin a tough stretch of three games in four nights with a road tilt against the Minnesota Wild (29-30-10). The game starts...
Already on a roll, the Dallas Stars got a boost with the return of veteran winger Brenden Morrow.
After helping his team stay red-hot, Morrow will attempt to lead the Pacific Division leaders to a season-high sixth straight win as they visit the struggling and injury-plagued Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.
Morrow, sidelined for 18 games due to neck and shoulder stiffness, scored...
