Preview: For the first time since 2007-2008, the Rangers are going for the series sweep of the Sabres. Earlier in the year, the Sabres were a bit of a pushover. They weren’t forechecking, weren’t going for loose pucks, and would roll over once their opposition got going.

All that has changed, and the Sabres are now fighting for a playoff spot. Just one point back of the Caps for the final spot, the Sabres were thought to be dead in the water when they traded Paul Gaustad. But Jason Pominville has single-handedly willed this team to the 9th seed and a shot at the playoffs.

This team still isn’t all that physical up front, especially on their top six. But they have found a way to get it done. These Sabres aren’t a pushover anymore.

Crazy Thought: Hank gets another shutout.

Opposition Blog: Buffalo Wins…their logo has the ‘g’ crossed out. Clever.

Is Ryan McDonagh the Rangers best defenseman?

With Dan Girardi tiring in the last few games (not a criticism) and Marc Staal clearly still struggling for consistency following his return, has Ryan McDonagh emerged as the Rangers best defenseman? It’s a valid question and perhaps just another way of heaping praise on McDonagh for the way he has developed since his call up midway in to last year. A lot of people don’t pay...

Video: Henrik Lundqvist Featured on HBO's Real Sports

This past Tuesday, HBO did a feature on New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist for their Real Sports show. Bryant Gumbel followed Hank around Manhattan, giving us an inside look at his off-ice life mixed with some great discussion about the current season.  I know many of you mentioned on Twitter that you did not know about this, or don't get HBO all together, so here...

Connecticut signs Steve Moses to ATO

With the NCAA season wrapping up, the ATO’s for undrafted free agents (in addition to team draft picks) are beginning to be handed out. In addition to ATO’s given to draft picks Andrew Yogan and Peter Ceresnak, the Rangers have brought in undrafted free agent Steve Moses to an ATO. Moses, out of UNH, led his team in scoring this season with a line of 22-13-35 in 37 games. The...

Video: John Tortorella’s Postgame Interview After Loss To Buffalo

… this wasn’t a good game at all. They looked lost and just could not get anything past Ryan Miller who was in full-out beast mode.

Pregame: Rangers Will Play to Defend First Place Tonight in Toronto

Tonight's opponent in the Toronto Maple Leafs is not in contention for first place in the Eastern Conference. In fact, they've fallen entirely out of the playoff race with just three wins in their last ten games. However, they could ultimately decide if the New York Rangers will remain atop the East at the night's end, or if the Blueshirts will surrender the position...

Not Making It Easy on Themselves

The New York Rangers are certainly doing that when it comes to the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference lead as the team dropped a 4-1 game to the Buffalo Sabres last night at Madison Square Garden. The Blueshirts ran into outstanding goaltending in Ryan Miller as Miller turned away 26 of 27 shots. With the win, the Sabres are now tied in points with the Washington Capitals...

One Point Closer to the 100-point mark

Due to having a men’s league hockey game last night, I was not able to catch any of the New York Rangers 2-1 overtime win over the Detroit Red Wings last night at Madison Square Garden.. Based on the highlights I did manage to see, I know that Rangers’ forward Brad Richards scored a nice first period goal and that team captain Ryan Callahan scored his 27th goal of the season...

It's Miller time in Buffalo

By Dan BerlinIt’s like déjà vu all over again for the Buffalo Sabres.Following in their footsteps from a year ago, the Sabres have managed to resurrect themselves in the second half, culminating in a late-season surge that finds the former bottom feeders knocking on the playoff door in the East once again. And they have Ryan Miller to thank.Miller is Buffalo’s most important...

Bad wrist sidelines Rangers' Zuccarello

Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello fractured his left wrist when he was struck by a puck in the first period of New York's game against the Buffalo Sabres. Zuccarello turned away from a shot taken by Sabres defenseman Jordan Leopold at 8:48 on Friday night and was struck. After nudging the puck, he immediately skated to the bench - with his left arm hanging limply at his side ...

Jan Levine: Game 74: NYR-BUF, Rangers Try and Sabre the Buffaloes to End Homestand

The Rangers (46-20-7) complete their seven-game homestand, facing the Sabres (35-29-10) on Friday. The two teams have met three times this year, with the last two games decided via shootout and overtime. After seemingly being left for dead, Buffalo has gone 16-5-5, led by Ryan Miller, who is 11-1-3 with 29 goals allowed in his last 15 games. In addition, the Sabres have been buoyed...

Buffalo Soldiers

By Mike Luciano (@MikeLuci) As of Wednesday night, the Buffalo Sabres are presently tied with the Washington Capitals at eighty points apiece for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. Although Washington qualifies for the eighth slot because they have two more wins, Buffalo has eight games and sixteen points to penetrate the barrier that separates the playoff-bound teams from...

GARTH: Fu Man Drew

When Pat Kaleta hurt his hand in Tampa on Monday night, Darcy Regier called Rochester for gritty forward Travis Turnbull. He played his first NHL game vs. Montreal. He scored his first NHL goal in Manhattan in a money game vs. Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers. Drew Stafford scored this beauty to give the Sabres the lead Tyler Ennis scored his 12th of the season to...
