Pittsburgh Penguins (14-6-4) @ New York Rangers (12-5-3)

7:30 pm/et

TV: ROOT, Versus, TSN2

Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

The "World's Most Famous Arena" has been heavily renovated and it looks quite a bit different than the last time the Pittsburgh Penguins visited. The Rangers are 6-1-1 at home this year, so many the renovations are working.

Kris Letang and Zbynek Michalek have gone back to Pittsburgh for medical evaluation. Alexandre Picard and Robert Bortuzzo have both been called up from WBS.

This is the Penguins first game against the Rangers since Matt Cooke tried to take someone's head off

Season Series: 0-0-0.

Last meeting that counted: March 20, 2011. Rangers won 5-2.

What we said in our recap:

What will get lost in the Cooke elbow **** is that this was a really good game at one point -- very defensive, playoff-like tone. The Penguins owned the second period but could not beat King Henrik.

Something that has hurt the Penguins over the last two years is their inability to score a huge powerplay goal. Look back at the Cup run in '09. When the Penguins needed a huge powerplay goal, they got it.

That just isn't the case right now. They work their balls off to get the powerplay and then fail at it.

Pittsburgh Penguins Notes:

As we mentioned earlier, Kris Letang & Zybnek Michalek are out.

Alex Picard & Robert Bortuzzo are in.

Matt Cooke doesn't try to kill people anymore.

New York Rangers Notes:

Marc Staal is skating.

Brandon Dubinsky is mad.

The Rangers possibly have interest in Bobby Ryan
