Pittsburgh Penguins (14-6-4) @ New York Rangers (12-5-3)
TV: ROOT, Versus, TSN2
Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
The "World's Most Famous Arena" has been heavily renovated and it looks quite a bit different than the last time the Pittsburgh Penguins visited. The Rangers are 6-1-1 at home this year, so many the renovations are working.
Kris Letang and Zbynek Michalek have gone back to Pittsburgh for medical evaluation. Alexandre Picard and Robert Bortuzzo have both been called up from WBS.
This is the Penguins first game against the Rangers since Matt Cooke tried to take someone's head off.
Season Series: 0-0-0.
Last meeting that counted: March 20, 2011. Rangers won 5-2.
What we said in our recap:
What will get lost in the Cooke elbow **** is that this was a really good game at one point -- very defensive, playoff-like tone. The Penguins owned the second period but could not beat Ki...

via Sam Kasan of Penguins Report at the Penguins website, Kris Letang suffered the hit to the head (in Montreal), a facial injury. He has felt fine for a couple days and skated with us after being evaluated a couple different ways on Monday. He skated with us, felt fine. Started to get some symptoms in New York. He also has a virus and some sickness. So there’s some other things...
The NHL released their Week 2 results of All Star balloting and Dan Girardi has fell out of the Top 20 after an impressive Week 1 showing at #18.There was never the excitement behind the campaign that there was with Sean Avery last year.So it is with much regret that I am shutting down the Girardi write-in campaign. If you still want to vote for him, I absolutely encourage you to...
via Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Penguins defensemen Kris Letang and Zbynek Michalek will be returning to Pittsburgh for further evaluation of medical issues.
That means defensemen Robert Bortuzzo and Alexandre Picard, both of whom were recalled from Wilkes-Barre this afternoon, figure to be in the Penguins’ lineup against the New York Rangers tonight.

New York is reporting that New York Rangers defenseman Marc Staal has begun
skating lightly on his own. Staal is
continuing to progress in his recovery after resuming light workouts earlier
this month following a full month shut down period. The fact that Staal was able to resume light
workouts with no ill effects that he can now be back on the ice...
When the Rangers were reeling off 7 wins in a row, the debbie downers were constantly on the team about beating up on inferior teams. How the Rangers true test would be the 3 games we just played against the Caps, the Flyers, and the Penguins. Tough to do much better than the Rangers just did. 3 games, 3 wins, 0 points gained by the opposition. Just imagine if this club didn’t...
Here are some post-game interviews, and John Tortorella’s press conference.

Last night, the New York Rangers proved they can stand up to the so-called elite. Their 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins was broadcast on Versus for the entire country to see, putting the team in the spotlight for perhaps the first time since the mid-90s. While Versus, and NHL on NBC for that matter, have pushed the big-market Rangers on...
Aaron Voros scored his first goal as a member of the CT Whale to help lead his team to a 4-2 victory over the Hershey Bears.Tim Erixon was scratched due to an injury he sustained in the previous game.Pavel Valentenko scored the game winner, while Mats Zuccarello chipped in with his fourth goal of the season....it's only a matter of time before Voros is skating on a line with...
The appeal to fans of HBO’s 24/7 that leads up to NHL Winter Classic is the
behind the scenes access it gives them to the teams and players they
follow. Beyond practices and the locker
room access there can be a more candid conversation by the players about what
they think about other people in the league.
That side of it is out in full force in the past week as Flyer...
Here, for the second time today, is the teaser for HBO's much-anticipated 24/7 Flyers Rangers, which should serve to get you appropriately excited for program. It's worth a revisit, especially in light of the delicious back-and-f0rth it has spawned between Jody Shelley and Brandon Dubinsky.
I direct your attention specifically to Shelley's standout moment at the six...
Pittsburgh’s star has filled up the scoresheet since his return to the ice after a long layoff, and is feisty, as well.
Pascal Dupuis is known for being a defensively responsible forward, but so far this season he’s being rewarded for his efforts on the stat sheet.
With 19 points (6G-13A) in 24 games, Dupuis is on pace to have his most productive NHL seas...
Game 21—or the “sort of” one-quarter pole.
Ya boys on a two-game winning streak and a run of six consecutive wins on Garden ice.
Cover your eyes, or ignore the next few lines:
Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are here! Whoopeeeee! Everybody celebrate. Bring frankincense and myrrh to the Garden tonight. Hockey is saved.
The Skidder is 2-7-9 in four games since...
