Found January 12, 2012 on Kukla's Korner:
DET (26-15-1) should be damn happy to be home after a four game road trip to open 2012, playing the last three of those in four nights (and it was evident in the 5-1 beatdown at NYI).  In the last three games (1-2), the Wings have fallen behind 4-0, 2-0 and 3-0 and have not held a lead in regulation.  After the NYI game, Babcock said:  “If you go back to our last four games, starting with the Dallas game (5-4 win on Jan. 3), we gave up way too many opportunities—off rushes, off turnovers, poor decisions.  You can’t win like that. Well, you can win once in a while, but you can’t be a good team.” Believing the team physically or mentally tired, Babcock further stated:  “But that’s what we looked like, that’s what I’m going with.  We’ll give them a day off (Wednesday) and get freshened up, and that puts the onus back on them. We have to play harder than that.” Generating offense is the ‘Dog’s biggest problem, they have scored two goals or fewer in 11 of the last 16 games. Phoenix

Preview: Coyotes at Red Wings

After ending a road trip with one of their worst performances of the season, the Detroit Red Wings should be happy to return home, where they haven't lost in over two months. Getting leading scorer Pavel Datsyuk back in the lineup would also make them feel a whole lot better. The Red Wings look to move a step closer to the franchise record with their 13th straight home win...

Zetterberg makes highlight goal in shootout

By REED Henrik Zetterberg did his best Peter Forsberg impression Thursday night as the Detroit Red Wings topped the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 in a shootout. With the shootout score even at one apiece following an early goal from All-Star Pavel Datsyuk and then two key saves from All-Star Jimmy Howard. Zetterberg carried the puck into the zone, sent it right...

Zetterberg Pulls a Forsberg, Wings Win In Shootout

All of a sudden, the Wings seem like they might not be so bad at this shootout thing. Henrik Zetterberg was the 4th shooter of the night, but he buried his opportunity with an ode to fellow countryman Peter Forsberg with this move. And here's proof that I know what I'm talking about (complete with crazy Swedish announcer guys). The Wings...

Red Wings-Islanders wrap-up and overnight report: let’s hope we don’t meet again

The Detroit Red Wings skated into what was a potentially dangerous game against the New York Islanders saying all the right things about continuing to right their road record, get “started on time” and not surrender multiple-goal leads before showing up to play, but instead of following through on their plan, the Pavel Datsyuk-less Wings headed back to Detroit with a serious...

Red Wings-Islanders quick take: no excuses for an ‘excuse game’

The Detroit Red Wings had the excuses lined up before tonight’s 5-1 loss to the New York Islanders, whose pedigree is apparently greater than that of the playoff-bound Maple Leafs and Blackhawks because they can withstand Detroit’s attempts to rally from multiple-goal deficits without blinking an eyelash. The Fathers’ Trip was over. The Wings were coming off the emotional...

As the Chief already noted, our friends in Toronto are corroborating the massive Detroit press push suggesting that the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs will hold a Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and if you don’t believe Pension Plan Puppets’ news, the Globe and Mail’s David Shoalts (via RedWingsFeed) is also stating that the deal is done…...

Mark Spizzirri: It's good to be back......home!

It's good to be back! After an unfortunate event (laptop meltdown) and a positive life-changing event (birth of my second child), I've been unable to blog thus far in 2012. For that, I apologize profusely. It figures that the first 12 days of 2012 have been filled with quite a bit of news concerning your Detroit Red Wings. Among them: -Petr Mrazek became a household...
