Found January 31, 2012 on Kukla's Korner:
The Red Wings (33-16-1) open a stretch of four consecutive road games tonight against the Flames (23-21-6).  The bad news, as the “19” are all too familiar with, DET stink on the road at 13-14-0.  The good news, after this road trip, DET play 18 of their remaining 28 games at the JLA.  More good news, in the fight for the Central Division, (illustrated in more detail below) both STL and CHI each have 20 road games remaining on their schedule (CHI start an absurd 9 game road trip tonight). Babcock on the teams road woes:  “Overall, our whole team has to be a better hockey club on the road.  We can’t hide from that. . . We have to be better in our commitment to defensive details, starting on time, and be physical in the offensive zone.  You want to get going.” I cannot fathom what the Coach means about starting on time, can you?  The Flames can’t score, and are dead last at winning draws.  Time for DET to find the .500 mark on the road.  LGRW. Red Wings' Jan Mursak Skates With Extra Stick Stuck In Jersey

File this under, "bizarre things I've never seen before at a hockey game," hashtag #sticktail.During Detroit's 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night, Red Wings' left wing Jan Mursak added an appendage after fighting for a puck in the corner. What happened was a Flames player's stick got caught in Mursak's jersey and Mursak wound up skating...

Do The Wings Need A ‘Fighter’?

from Gregg Krupa of the Detroit News, But the Red Wings rarely fight. They are dead last in the NHL. The Rangers, who lead the league, fight 543 percent more often than the Wings — 38-7. The next lowest-ranked teams, the Canadiens (11) and Coyotes (11), fight 57 percent more than the Wings. Two of the biggest criticisms of the Red Wings’ roster over the years are their comparative...

Datsyuk still searching for first All-Star goal

Pavel Datsyuk's wish to be the MVP of the NHL All-Star game will have to wait for at least another year. So will the Detroit Red Wings forward's bid to score his first goal in the league's midseason classic. In three career appearances, Datsyuk has been limited to four assists - including three on Sunday in Team Chara's 12-9 win over Team Alfredsson. It wasn'...

Detroit picks up where it left off

Jiri Hudler scored the go-ahead goal at 11:29 of the third period to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. Flames defenseman Chris Butler lost his balance and fell inside the Calgary blue line, allowing Valtteri Filppula to wheel around him and carry the puck deep into the Calgary zone. Filppula's centering pass caromed off the side...

Wings still need to add depth for Cup run

Now that the NHL's glorified shootout with human pylons -- A.K.A. the All-Star Game -- has concluded, the Red Wings officially kicked off the second half of their season with a 3-1 victory Tuesday night in Calgary. Detroit is at the top of the league standings, and with the trade deadline less than a month away (Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. EST), speculation is that once again the Red...

Red Wings practice day news: Luongo will start against Kron-Wall of Pain and the Wings

Already updated at 4:44 PM: The Red Wings flew to Vancouver after last night’s 3-1 win over the Flames, and today’s mid-day news topics included, the Wings are much less worried about trade talk or Henrik Zetterberg’s goal-scoring slump than they are in finally passing the acid test that is tangling with the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. The Canucks defeated Chicago 3-2...

Red Wings-Flames quick take: es gibt ein wirkliches grind

The Detroit Red Wings’ 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday evening was anything but an aesthetically pleasing affair. Between a little bit of rust on both sides thanks to the All-Star break, some particularly nasty hockey from Calgary and a still-lingering lack of road confidence, the Wings really had to grind it out and not get ground down during a second period in...

Red Wings-Flames Preview

The Detroit Red Wings return from the All-Star break with the NHL's most points and one of the league's highest-scoring offenses. Although the Calgary Flames are in 11th place in the Western Conference, they're unlikely to be intimidated. The Red Wings, who have struggled away from Detroit, open a stretch of four consecutive road games Tuesday night against the Flames...
