Ever wondered what one of the NHL's most lethal snap shots looks like in slow motion? Well, I've got you covered. Above is a super slow motion replay of Phil Kessel's second goal in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 5-2 win over the New York Islanders. The goal was Kessel's 400th career point. He wasn't the only Leaf to reach a milestone though as newcomer David Clarkson even got his first ever goal in the blue and white. Also, I just realized that Clarkson has very scary eyes like Maurice Richard. Related:GIF: Phil Kessel goes coast-to-coast versus the Devils**

Kessel out with flu, Bozak nears return

It’s not another significant injury, but there was another missing body at practice on Monday for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs have had only two forwards play all 20 games this season – Phil Kessel and Mason Raymond – and one member of that pair was absent at practice on Monday, which is rarely a good sign. The diagnosis this time, however, wasn’t that dire. “Phil...

Mike Augello: Kessel Absent From Practice

Winger Phil Kessel was absent from practice at the Mastercard Center in Etobicoke, ON Monday morning, but it was not because of an injury. According to head coach Randy Carlyle, the Leafs leading scorer is suffering from the flu and his status for Tuesday night's game against the New York Islanders at Air Canada Center is uncertain. will update with full blog

Toronto Maple Leafs: Nazem Kadri called Don Cherry ‘Grandpa Grapes’

Every Saturday night Don Cherry speaks his mind on CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada, and last Saturday, he chose to call out Toronto Maple Leafs centre Nazem Kadri for his suspension last week against the Minnesota Wild. In the first…Read more →The post Toronto Maple Leafs: Nazem Kadri called Don Cherry ‘Grandpa Grapes’ appeared first on The Hockey Daily.

Maple Leafs sign Finn to entry-level contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday signed defenseman Matt Finn to a three-year entry-level contract. Finn, selected in the second round (No. 35) of the 2012 NHL Draft, has five goals and 20 points in 21 games this season for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League, tying him for fourth in scoring among defenseman in the league. Finn also has a plus-15 rating. The Guelph team...

Colin Dambrauskas: Toronto Maple Leafs - Who Should Stay & Who Should Go?

Follow Colin on Twitter!: @ColinDJD With the number of injuries, suspensions, and trade rumours vis-à-vis the Toronto Maple Leafs of late, there has been a lot of dialogue between fans and media outlets. As such, I’d like to cover a few topics which are most prominent in terms of how likely they are to affect the Leafs moving forward. Experiencing much adversity...

Clarkson: "I wasn't brought in here to score 50 goals"

Standing comfortably by his dressing room stall, David Clarkson refuses to dodge questions about a goal drought that's lingered 10 games into the start of his Maple Leafs career. He's willing answer queries for as long as needed. "Ask whatever you want," he says. And he understands the questions. But he also knows why he was brought into the fold in Toronto and...

Leafs irate over ‘Princess Phaneuf’ comment, Scott expresses regret

Following Saturday night’s 4-2 loss to Toronto, Buffalo enforcer John Scott took aim at Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf by calling him “Princess Phaneuf” in response to this third-period scrum. “All of a sudden I’m not allowed to hit him anymore. He’s Princess Phaneuf. It’s a joke,” Scott after the game.“My leg’s fine, everything’s good. It’s just something where...

John Scott Riles Up Maple Leafs With ‘Princess Phaneuf’ Comment, Says He Regrets Quip

The Maple Leafs and Bruins don’t have a whole lot in common or shared thoughts and visions, but they can probably agree on one thing, which is that neither is a huge fan of Sabres enforcer John Scott. The big forward was at the center of attention yet again this weekend when he decided to open his mouth following Toronto’s 4-2 win over the Sabres that earned the Leafs a split...

Dan Petriw: Isles, Leafs tonight in Toronto

The Islanders return to the ice tonight in Toronto as they take on the Maple Leafs. The big news out of Toronto is lineup decisions made by Islander head coach Jack Capuano today. Eric Boulton will dress tonight and I understand that logic as the Leafs are a team that is all too willing to drop the gloves. I actually thought the odd man out tonight would be Colin McDonald but...

Mike Augello: Quarterly Report Card Part II, Leafs Vs Islanders

The Leafs embark on the second quarter of the 2013-14 season tonight as they face the New York Islanders at Air Canada Center on Tuesday in the second game of their five-game home stand. Winger Phil Kessel, who missed practice Monday with the flu was on the ice for the morning skate on Tuesday. Kessel will again play with newly acquired center Peter Holland and James van Riemsdyk...

Mike Augello: Are Leafs Looking To Shuffle Roster?

While trade rumors are the rule and not the exception with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the approaching American Thanksgiving holiday traditionally marks when NHL general managers begin to address their club’s shortcomings after careful evaluation for the first quarter of the season. Toronto has already made one deal to address their need for depth up the middle by acquiring...

Awkward: Rick DiPietro, AHL team in same Toronto hotel as Isles

The New York Islanders are in Toronto to play the Maple Leafs on Tuesday night in NHL action. The Charlotte Checkers are in Toronto for a pair of games including one on Tuesday night against the Marlines in AHL action. That's why things might get a little awkward in Canada's biggest city and that's ignoring all of the shenanigans at Toronto City Hall. Why is that awkward...

GM meetings spur moves by Blackhawks, Maple Leafs

Predictably, when NHL general managers gathered in Toronto last week for their semi-annual meeting to discuss rule changes, there was the usual amount of face-to-face trade talk as well. It resulted in a couple of minor deals – the Toronto Maple Leafs getting additional depth at forward by acquiring Peter Holland from the Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks fleshing out the...

GIF: Vladimir Tkachyov Highlight Reel Goal

20 year old KHL player Vladimir Tkachyov scored an amazing coast-to-coast in the opener of the Subway Series. Tkachyov is known for scoring crazy goals in the past. He scored an incredible lacrosse style spin goal earlier this year in a skills competition. Related:GIF: Phil Kessel goes coast-to-coast versus the Devils**
