In an article on the Rangers trying to bounce back from their tough loss in Buffalo, Pat Leonard at the Daily News reports that Dan Girardi is playing well below 100%. Girardi smirked and said “I feel good” when questioned about his health yesterday. In case you haven't noticed, Girardi has been given the "A" again with Staal out of the line-up. ...got to figure Girardi's ankle is still tender and you have wonder how much it affected him on the touchdown pass from Pomenville to Vanek. Girardi also seemed to catch a Ryan Callahan shoulder to the chops during the game as well which was probably the last thing he needed. And if you remember he missed two game earlier this year with an undisclosed injury, so who knows if that's still bothering him as well. ...all I know is the guy is an absolute warrior and plays through pain more than anyone in the NHL. Leonard also says that despite Arron Asham skating with the team yesterday, he is still ...

Winnipeg Jets fans chant 'Tortorella' during win over Rangers (Video)

Winnipeg Jets fans could be heard taunting New York Rangers head coach John Tortorella with a "Tortorella" chant during the third period of the Jets' 3-1 win over the Rangers Thursday night. The win put the Jets in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of the Rangers. Video via NHL.com. H/T PD. Visit us at holdoutsports.com and follow...

Can't Get Worse For Gaborik Who Is Available for a Trade

It's been unfortunate to watch a 40-goal scorer like Marian Gaborik struggle to find the back of the net this season. And last night in Winnipeg might have been rock bottom when he could barely get a shot off during a penalty shot and did this afterward... Meanwhile, Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com reports that although the Rangers aren’t necessarily shopping Gaborik, he’s...

John Tortorella ‘Disgusted’ With Rangers, Refuses to Give Sabres Credit for Beating New York (Video)

“We sucked.” Those were just two of a bunch of pointed words John Tortorella had for his hockey club following the Rangers’ loss to the Sabres on Tuesday night. The New York head coach went off on one of his patented postgame rants yet again, as the Blueshirts dropped a 3-1 decision to Buffalo. Tortorella unloaded on his team after the game, saying that he was “disgusted”...

Stepan Has Become Rangers Top Center

A month ago, Rangers fans were more than willing to see the struggling Derek Stepan sent to the Colorado Avalanche for Ryan O'Reilly. While Stepan offered more offensively than O'Reilly, Rangers fans felt O'Reilly's superior face-off ability and toughness made him a much more viable option for the Blueshirts. Since those rumors, Stepan has gone on an absolute...

Lundqvist Questions Rangers Toughness

Two weeks ago, it was Marty Biron questioning the Rangers "hardness," now the Blueshirts other goaltender, you might have heard of him, Henrik Lundqvist is criticizing the team's toughness... “We did a lot of good things, but the games are decided in front of both nets right now. We need to have more traffic in front of their net, and I think we need to be a little...

Which Rangers may head to Sochi in 2014?

Photo credit: ctpost.com While the next Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia are still a little under a year away, discussions continue on between the NHL, NHLPA, IIHF and IOC to determine whether NHL players will participate in the games. As it stands right now, all signs point to an agreement being reached to keep the game’s best players representing their respective nations. In...

Henrik Lundqvist’s toe save is candidate for save of the year

The New York Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist have had a rocky season so far but have shown glimpses of the powerhouse they could be.  When playing the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night, Lundqvist made two insane back-to-back saves.  Rangers defenseman Ryan Mcdonagh made a terrible play with the puck and it squirted across the crease right to Sabres forward Thomas Vanek, who has been...

Micheal Haley Should Stay With the Rangers

Since being called up by the Rangers on March 5, Micheal Haley has been better than expected. His days with the Islanders showed he could fight anyone, but not much else. With the Blueshirts, we've actually seen he can be an effective hockey player. He forechecks well, uses the body and skates decently (although he won't be confused with Ryan McDonagh anytime soon) to...

Jan Levine: Game 25: BUF 3 NYR 1, Bottom Six. Tortorella. Gaborik.

The Rangers came up with one of their worst efforts of the season in their 3-1 loss to the Sabres on Tuesday. The only worse than that effort might have been coach John Tortorella's post-game press conference, which was more of the usual from him, though with even more vitriol for the media than usual. Bottom six. Torts. Gaborik. The only positive from the game was the...

Video- Henrik Lundqvist With The Leg Save

Perhaps the best save I have seen all year. Lundqvist, even though out of position, finds the puck and is able to get his leg out to make a great save.  The overhead camera at the end of the video is the best angle to see exactly what Lundqvist did.

Jets Soar Past Rangers; Take Over Final Playoff Spot in East

The New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets hooked up for the second time this season, tied with twenty-eight points for the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot.  The Rangers, coming off a lackluster 3-1 loss Tuesday night in Buffalo, took on the Jets, winners of three of their last four, including a 5-2 home win Tuesday night [...]

Micheal Haley vs Mark Stuart & Columbus DJ Plays Harlem Shake During Fight

The New York Rangers might’ve lost 3-1 last night in Winnipeg, but Michael Haley won himself a fight with Mark Stuart. Sure, Stuart landed a shot, but that was a Haley punch that made him wobbly and ultimately ended the scrap. Between his AHL and NHL service this season, that was Haley’s 20th brawl and probably his quickest. Other than this fight, it was a rather slow night....

Goal Breakdown: Rangers sloppy, let two points slip away in Buffalo

The Sabres were without Tyler Ennis and Ryan Miller, are one of the worst teams in the league, and don’t play defense, so this game was supposed to be a cakewalk. It wasn’t, and while the Sabres were lucky to get out of the first ten minutes scoreless, they outplayed the Rangers in the second, forcing a lot of penalties. The Rangers played fairly well, but had some sloppy stretches...

Sabres 3, Rangers 1

The New York Rangers (13-10-2) lost to the Buffalo Sabres (10-14-3) by the score of 3-1, tonight. For a box score go to Yahoo! Sports. ...i'd be upset with tonight's results if I didn't see it coming from a mile away. And from the comments on the blog earlier today, I think you guys did also. Backup goaltender who hasn't won a game in his last 17 starts? Talk...
