The Red Wings could not muster enough offense against the Bruins Saturday losing the game 2-0 and also backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson who injured his groin in his first start in Joe Louis Arena.
"With most of this lineup for two nights we haven't scored a goal" Mike Babcock said referring to a 2-0 loss to the Blackhawks Tuesday with a roster that was substantially the same as Saturday’s.
"We don't move the puck very good from the back so it's kind of a grindfest out there" he said.
"I didn't think we were good enough... We turned the puck over a ton. So practice tomorrow."
The loss evened the Wings record at 2-2 in the exhibition season.
The game was scoreless until 18:56 of the second period when the Bruins got loose behind too many Red Wings and harried Gustavsson.
With a dramatic cross-crease move his legs splayed Gustavsson managed to get to the puck. But he could not stop it. Carl Soderberg had scored with an assist from Chris Kelly.
