Coyotes general manager Don Maloney spoke on the NHL Network on Sirius XM on Friday and provided some notable updates on the team's injury situation just four games into the season.
Maloney, in talking about the Coyotes' offseason moves that included the reacquisition of center Matthew Lombardi, said Lombardi was injured in Thursday night's loss to the Sharks and "may be out for a significant amount of time." He did not provide any additional details as to the extent or specifics of the injury.
Lombardi had two assists in the first four games after returning to the Coyotes organization just days before the start of the season in a trade with the Maple Leafs. He had 18 points last season for Toronto in his return to the lineup from a neck injury that cost him all but two games of the 2010-11 season.
