Found February 11, 2012 on Fox Sports North:
The Minnesota Gophers' second-leading goal-scorer, Kyle Rau, was suspended today for one-game, due to a recent hit he put on Denver's Jason Zucker -- a Minnesota Wild prospect. Rau, a freshman from Eden Prairie, was dealt a one-game suspension by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association under the league's Supplementary Discipline Policy and Procedures. Rau, a 5-foot-8, 172-pound forward, caught the unsuspecting Zucker with a late hit near mid-game Friday, during an eventual 5-3 Gophers loss at Denver. At the time of the incident Friday, Rau was assessed a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a 10-minute game misconduct. Rau entered the weekend with 14 goals for the 19-10-1 Gophers. He will sit out tonight's game in Denver. Zucker, the WCHA's preseason player of the year, is a major point-producer for the Denver Pioneers. He was selected in the second round (59th overall) by the Minnesota Wild in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Zucker, a 5-11, 185-pound sophomore forward, received medical attention at length on the ice after Friday's hit. There is no current word on his health condition.

Wild place enforcer Staubitz on waivers

ST. PAUL, Minn. The Minnesota Wild put forward Brad Staubitz on waivers Friday, a day after suffering a third straight tough loss. Staubitz, 27, was scoreless and was a minus-7 with a team-high 73 penalty minutes in 43 games this season. The enforcer was acquired from the San Jose Sharks in 2010 and had career-highs with four goals, five assists and 173 penalty minutes last season...

Kyle Rau hit on Jason Zucker...

Minnesota's Kyle Rau was given a five minute major and a game misconduct for his hit on Denver Pioneers forward  Jason Zucker, it's a high hit and the kind we are trying to elliminate from all levels of hockey. Is this hit worthy of a suspension? I don't think so. The video replay isn't that good, so it's hard to tell if Rau hit Zucker with an elbow... Related...

Wild's Staubitz clears waivers

SATURDAY'S STORY LINE: Mike Lundin, who has been a healthy scratch in 16 of the last 20 games will be back in the lineup tonight for the Minnesota Wild, versus Columbus. "It has been long enough for him and we want to give him a chance here. He has played some really good hockey for us," said coach Mike Yeo. At different points of the season, injecting a new player...

Elk River's Nate Prosser accomplishes NHL dream by signing two-year one-way contract with the Wild

Its the dream of lots and lots of kids who first play the game on the frozen ponds and rinks across the state of hockey.  The dream of someday playing in the NHL, but for most its a dream they'll never come close to ever achieving.  As a native of Elk River and a proud Elk River Area High School alum I can say without hesitation there is a lot of pride in the community'...

Shots come, but goals don't for Wild

ST. PAUL Minnesota Wild forward Dany Heatley was all alone behind Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Steve Mason. Matt Cullen fired the puck down to a waiting Heatley, who had a wide-open net and a chance to put Minnesota ahead, 2-1, in the second period. Heatley's stick then broke and another Wild scoring chance was missed. Unfortunately it's been a familiar story for Minnesota...

After strong start, the Wild are wilting

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By DAVE CAMPBELL AP Sports Writer The Minnesota Wild are bewildered by their latest loss. They shot 65 times, and 35 of them were on target. Only one went in the net. This is the way a once-promising season is going for the sputtering Wild, who not only wasted a Saturday night at home full of stellar scoring chances but suffered...

Break before Denver series good for Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS Last season, the Minnesota Gophers men's hockey team received their weekend bye in mid-January, less than three weeks after the holiday break. In the Gophers' eyes, the timing of the break was unfortunate because they didn't feel they needed a break at the time. After the weekend off, Minnesota went 6-5-3 the rest of the way to finish 13-10-5 in the WCHA...

Canucks vs. Minnesota Wild blog: Love’ em & Hate’ em

Nice Moustache! The best part of the NHL‘s realignment plan that lasted for about six weeks was that the Vancouver Canucks and the Minnesota Wild would go from meeting six times a year to two. I have this theory, and it’s pretty out there, that Minnesota is a boring hockey team to watch. Hosting the Wild is a mundane experience but playing in Minnesota is a soul sucking endeavour...
