Brandon Prust and P.K. Subban scored first-period goals and Daniel Brière added an empty-netter while Carey Price did the rest as the Canadiens defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 Tuesday night at the MTS Centre. It was the third consecutive win for the Canadiens who finished their Western Canada road trip with a 3-1 record. More bad news for Pacioretty: Max Pacioretty has experienced more bad luck. Pacioretty suffered an injury to his left leg when he was pulled down by James Wright in front of the net with seven minutes remaining in the first period. He was unable to put any weight on the leg as he was helped from the ice and he’ll be seeing a doctor in Montreal Wednesday. Carey Carey: Price turned in another outstanding performance as he made 36 saves for his first shutout of the season. Price prevented the Jets from getting back into the game with a series of acrobatic moves. His best saves came against Michael Frolik on a scramble in front of the net in the final minute of the second period and early in the third when stretched to make a pad save on a short-handed breakaway by Andrew Ladd. Double D: There’s been a lot of heat on David Desharnais but he picked up his first point of the season when his cross-ice pass set up Subban for a blast from the blue line that produced the Canadiens’ second goal. Desharnais was plus-2 on the night and would have been plus-3 if Eric Tangradi hadn’t prevented Rene Bourque from getting a clean shot at an empty net. And Brière turned in his best performance since joining the Canadiens and picking up the empty-net goal and an assist on Prust’s score. Nothing special: The Canadiens had five power plays but scored only once while the Jets also came up empty on three power play opportunities. Changing it up Part 1: Coach Michel Therrien made some lineup changes Tuesday morning. Ryan White pushed rookie Michael Bournival out of the centre spot on the fourth line with Travis Moen and Daniel Brière. Therrien said he was pleased with White’s work in the faceoff circle but he also noted that White is a native Manitoban and the game gave him a chance to play in front of friends and family. He earned a mention in the box score for a first-period scrap with Tangradi.
