Chicago Blackhawks center Michal Handzus recently had surgery on his wrist and knee but expects to be ready for the start of training camp in September, ESPNChicago.com reports.
After the team's Stanley Cup win, it was revealed that Handzus played through a broken wrist and torn MCL during the finals.
"I had two surgeries, but I'm healing and it's coming along," Handzus told ESPNChicago.com. "Right now, wrist, I still can't do anything. It's in a cast for one more week. After four weeks, I'm going to start to do something. It's a little bit slower. My knee, it's pretty much I'm rehabbing right now. [The doctors] are saying [I'll be ready for training camp.]"
Handzus, 36, was acquired from the San Jose Sharks prior to the trade deadline last season and re-signed with the Blackhawks in early July. He had three goals and eight assists in 23 postseason games after having just two goals and six assists in 39 regular season games.

Winning the Stanley Cup might make you feel like dancing. In the case of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, the duo celebrated their accomplishment by busting out some interesting moves. Specifically, Toews moonwalked on the ice following Chicago's Cup clinching victory and Kane performed the "Kaner Shuffle" at a Jimmy Buffet concert. When the Blackhawks held their...

A fan captured video of Shaw twerkin’ for the audience, and while we appreciate the effort, we hope he’ll practice his moves for next time….and then take them to the ice.

After that 17 seconds from hell in Game Six, most Bruins fans could not bear (pun intended) to watch any of the Chicago Blackhawks Cup parade.
And over a month later, I still had NO desire to watch any of it until this tweet:
#Blackhawks‘ Corey Crawford didn’t want to talk about his infamous speech during Stanley Cup rally. Wants to move on from it.

Stan Bowman wanted to keep Joel Quenneville in Chicago, and the coach had no desire to leave.
After two Stanley Cup titles in four seasons, this was a no-brainer.
The Blackhawks announced a three-year contract extension for Quenneville on Friday, kicking off their annual fan convention with a crowd-pleasing move that keeps the coach in Chicago through the 2016-17 season.
While general manager Stan Bowman and coach Joel Quenneville are already looking ahead to next season, Chicago Blackhawks fans got another chance to celebrate the team's Stanley Cup title.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been busy this summer keeping the gang together while staying under the salary cap. Luckily for them coaches don't count on the cap so re-signing coach Joel Quenneville was an easier proposition one that was completed on Friday.

The Chicago Blackhawks Convention continued Saturday with a 10-hour day that included autograph sessions, panels, and entertainment for fans.
I unwisely spent five hours of my day acquiring a wristband and signature of Tony Esposito. The extremely wasteful time has meaning because my dad grew up a “Tony O” fan, so getting his autograph on my dad’s Blackhawks sweater was important...

The one and only one comfort I took in "my team" losing to the eventual Stanley Cup champions involved the fact that "my team's" season ended on April 27th, and the Chicago Blackhawks' season ended on June 24th.

Well, one of the worst kept secrets in a long time is outâBlackhawk head coach Joel Quenneville has had his contract extended through 2017.
Well-deserved for one of the best coaches in hockey. Casual fans so often point to the drafting of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane as the key factors in the turnaround of the Hawks' on-ice fortunes. But it can...
The Chicago Blackhawks embarked on their sixth annual fan convention July 26, and more than a few fans showed up.
I did what any self-respecting person would do and pay more than their fair share of money to attend the convention. I showed up with a couple of friends, went through the painfully long check-in line, and cringed at the length of the line for opening ceremonies at 12...
