Rangers_goalie_lundqvist_295a
After today's practice Henrik Lundqvist said this about his recent struggles in Montreal (via Rangers Twitter account)..."Sometimes I think you can get drawn too much into the atmosphere there."The Rangers have lost six of their last seven in Montreal....i always feel that once things start rolling downhill for the Rangers in Montreal they can't stop it. A big reason for that, as Hank acknowledges, is the crowd, who really seems to effect this Rangers team....hopefully the Blueshirts can jump out to a nice early lead to quiet the crowd and damage the confidence of an already fragile Canadiens team coming off a loss to the lowly Islanders.Lundqvist returned to practice after sitting out yesterday with what was called a "maintenance day."Katie Strang of ESPN NY adds that the lines and defensive pairs were the same that ended Islanders game. Anton Stralman skated as the extra defenseman.Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at ...

Rangers Prospect System Ranked 13th By Hockey's Future

The New York Rangers are still out spending money on free agents like Marian Gaborik and Brad Richards to carry the offensive burden, but the integration of young prospect talent into the lineup over the past 4-5 years has been the key to the team rising back up the standings.  Luckily for the Rangers there is more talent in the pipeline for the coming seasons though the...

Marc Staal Making Strides... But Not Too Far

As I added into this morning's article on Brad Richards, defenseman Marc Staal has been cleared for light physical activity by his concussion specialist according to Larry Brooks in the New York Post. Staal, as you know, has been on shutdown for the past month after suffering from relapse post-concussion symptoms in training camp back in September. That means he hasn't been...

Martin Biron Starting Against Canadiens

The Rangers will have Martin Biron between the pipes as they seek their eighth straight win tonight in Montreal.  While some might take this as a sign of not putting their best team out there but given Biron's 3-0 record and .95 goals against average there is no reason to doubt him.  Biron does need the work and given Lundqvist's struggles in Montreal there is nothing wrong...

Rangers Flat As Winning Streak Ends

The winning streak was fun while it lasted, but the three day layover between games seemed to take the steam out of the Rangers. They simply came out flat, and looked a step behind the Habs all game, and it showed. The refs were also atrocious, and had a lot of weak calls. But the refs did not lose the game for the Rangers, the Rangers lost the game for the Rangers. Let’s get to...

Girardi All Star Write-In Voting Confusion

As the Dan Girardi write-in campaign hits its fourth day, I've got to say I'm completely confused with a number of aspects of the voting.First, why is it that you can't write-in players using the mobile ballot? If there is a 30 vote limit for each voting medium (online ballot, text message & online ballot), how is it fair that players on the ballot are able to get...

Video: John Tortorella Praises Team

… the team has been great all around and hopefully they keep it up against Montreal tonight for their 8th win in a row.

Icy hot feeling OK with Torts

After entering November with a 4-3-3 record, the Rangers have vaulted near the top of the Eastern Conference by putting together a seven-game winning streak. And, according to coach John Tortorella, all facets of the team have contributed to the team’s recent success. “We’re playing pretty good team...

Bring on the Habs

The New York Rangers will be looking for their eighth straight win tonight when they take on the Montreal Canadiens in Montreal tonight. In their previous meeting, the Blueshirts rode a 3-goal first period en route to a 5-3 win at Madison Square Garden. Considering that the Canadiens are not playing in a back-to-back situation, this has the potential to be a very different hockey...

It’s Go Time!

Game 17. Ya boys on a seven-game winning streak. Looking to make it eight in a row for the first time since 1974-75 … although in ‘74-75 they didn’t even have overtime, let alone the breakaway contests they sometimes hold after the end of hockey games nowadays. The Rangers play the second in a stretch of two games in 11 freakin’ days, and their second of four in a row...
