We all saw it last night...we've seen for a few games now.  Zetterberg and Filppula make a great team.  Filppula is already 17 points clear of his season high 40 that he acheived back in 2008-2009.  Zetterberg has been on fire - 23 points in his last 16 games.

“We’ve been playing together for a while now and we’re getting to know each other better and better.  We know how we want to play. Some nights things go the way we want." --Valtteri Filppula

Last night was one of those nights.

Make the jump for more.

This year has definitely been a coming out year for my wife's favorite player (#51)...

We had always believed that Val was a little bit Datsyuk...a little bit Zetterberg.  We had seen glimpses of brilliance - but he never seemed to be able to sustain a high level of play...until this year.  As it stands - Filppula is just two points behind the currently shelved Pavel Datsyuk for the team lead in points (59).  Sure, Val has played in eight more games than Pav...but still.

You can bet your sweet bippy that Hank Zetterberg owes a lot of his success this year (and recently) to the elevated play of #51.  Zetterberg's play seemed to be on a slow decline over the past few seasons.  He was a "world beater" as NOHS Chris mentioned before...but had lost that status with declining production.  But Hank is back, baby.  And all he needed was one of his wingers to step up their game.  When Datsyuk and Zetterberg had their magic in '08 - it was a thing of beauty.  But once the Euro Twins split up...Hank seemed to lose his touch.  But with the ascension of Filppula, we're seeing a little bit of that "Euro Twin" magic that we used to see.  Back when #40 and #13 were making teams look stupid...

There's still plenty of time left in the season - but it's nice to know that Val and Hank are picking up the slack in Pavel's absence.

Come back when you're ready, Pav...but please make it soon...your Mule needs you...badly.
