Petr Mrazek to Make Second Start for Detroit Red Wings on Sunday
Rookie goalie Petr Mrazek will be back between the pipes on Sunday evening against the Minnesota Wild, MLive’s Ansar Khan reported. Mrazek made his NHL debut in a win over the St. Louis Blues on Feb. 7, then sat as Jimmy Howard made four consecutive starts — Detroit went 2-1-1 in that span, culminating in a 5-2 loss to Anaheim on Friday.
Mrazek stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced...

Petr Mrazek, Red Wings Backup Goaltender, Sports Mask Featuring Peter Griffin in Superman Outfit (Photo)
Petr Mrazek made his NHL debut for the Red Wings on Thursday, but the only thing cooler than the 20-year-old getting his first win has got to be his helmet.
Mrazek’s mask features an image of Peter Griffin from Family Guy sporting a Superman outfit. The unlikely combination even has a somewhat logical explanation behind it. The image is a mix between Mrazek’s first name and...
Red Wings goalie prospect Petr Mrazek has a Superman Peter Griffin on goalie mask
This has been Petr Mrazek’s first year as a professional after playing three seasons in the OHL. He started off the season with the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL and then moved to the AHL to play for the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Detroit Red Wings minor league affiliate. On Thursday night, the Red Wings 5th round pick from 2010, will make his first career NHL start. With his...
Petr Mrazek to Make NHL Debut for Detroit Red Wings Against St. Louis Blues
Rookie Petr Mrazek, one of the gems of Detroit’s minor-league system, will make his first NHL start on Thursday night, as the Red Wings head into St. Louis to take on the Blues.
Multiple reports confirmed the news Thursday afternoon, following rumors of the possible switch in net. The Red Wings just called Mrazek up from Grand Rapids following Detroit’s loss to Calgary on Tuesday...
Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek’s funny facemask (PIC)
Earlier in this young NHL season, pictures of the facemask of then-backup Red Wings goalie Thomas McCollum made their internet debut. McCollum has a liking of the late Chris Farley’s character Tommy Boy. Apparently the sense of humor is a trend among Wings backup netminders as the current Jimmy Howard backup, Petr Mrazek, has a different funny guy on his mask. The 20-year old...
Petr Mrazek, now with Red Wings, named AHL’s Player of the Week
Via Fox 17's Pete Amrose, and per the AHL, this is somewhat ironic given that he's going to spend the week with the Red Wings:
The American Hockey League announced today that Grand Rapids Griffins goaltender Petr Mrazek has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 3, 2013.
Mrazek stopped 53 of 54 shots in two games last week (2-0...
Red Wings overnight report: reverse-engineering Petr Mrazek
Drafting and developing athletic goaltenders requires a bit of reverse engineering. Goalies who naturally play an instinctive game and employ acrobatic saves when fundamentals fail them tend to make stops on shots that leave more conventionally-trained goaltenders flummoxed…But as these goaltenders move up the professional ranks, the ones who decline to rein in their tendencies...
So who is Petr Mrazek, anyway? He’s one of the Red Wings’ best prospects
You might be wondering who the masked man who just stopped 52 of 54 shots and helped the Czech Republic defeat Team USA 5-2 at the World Junior Championships might be.
Petr Mrazek currently tends goal for the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s, and while his goals-against isn’t exactly pretty, he’s won 16 times while backstopping a team that admittedly plays “run and gun” hockey—kind...
