TEAMS: Boston Bruins
Today marks the free agent signing frenzy. Here's what we expect from the Peter Chiarelli and the Boston Bruins today:At most, a depth guy you never heard of (at most). Don't expect a big splash from Chia, not with a limited cap which currently stands at a tiny $277,857. Any signing would need a trade or two to make room before the season starts.Edit: We forgot about Savard's contract which will go away due to LTIR. Still not expecting anything major from Boston today. This, of course, is standard Peter Chiarelli on NHL Free Agency Day. @PezDOY I'm not even doing that much. You'll forget I'm ******* paying attention I'll be so quiet. — Peter Chiarelli (@Peter_Chiarelli) July 1, 2012 Note: not really Chiarelli. It'll be fun to see what team overpays for Nash's rights, though. We'll update the site with any moves Boston makes if Chia decides to work on a Sunday.PS -- Happy Canada Day to our friends and readers up north.

Dougie Hamilton, Malcolm Subban Looking Forward to Applying Lessons Learned in Bruins Development Camp

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Summer school is over, but the real education is just beginning. The Bruins wrapped up their sixth annual development camp Monday at Ristuccia Arena, closing the five-day camp with more power-skating drills in the morning followed by a final scrimmage. The White team prevailed 4-2 in that one to sweep the scrimmages that closed out the final two days of the camp...

Dougie Hamilton, Jordan Caron to Play Bigger Roles and Other Thoughts on the Eve of Free Agency

The offseason continues to fly by, with one big event after another. The draft is in the books and the Bruins development camp is already under way, while free agency is set to open on Sunday. Those key happenings provide some excitement in the dreary months between games, and the passage of each of them brings us that much closer to the start of another season. They also provide...

Tuukka Raska Ready to Prove He Can Be Bruins Goalie for Years to Come (Video)

Tuukka Rask agreed to a relatively interesting one-year deal to remain with the Bruins on Thursday, and there didn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the deal. It turns out that the 25-year-old netminder is looking to stay with the B's for years to come, but he feels that he still has plenty to prove before the team should really settle on him as the No. 1 man heading into...

Peter Chiarelli Expects Quiet Bruins Offseason as GM Tries to Keep Team Together (Video)

Just a year ago the Bruins were touting the Stanley Cup, the culmination of an incredible run through the playoffs. A bit removed from that success, the Bruins want to keep that same core in tact and believe that it will continue to have success moving forward. At least that's the official story from general manager Peter Chiarelli, who sees players like Tukka Rask and Tuukka...

Benoit Pouliot, Joe Corvo, Greg Zanon Find New Homes in Free Agency

While the Bruins didn't make any additions on the first day of free agency and are not actively looking to make any moves, three players did officially become former Bruins on Sunday. Forward Benoit Pouliot and defenseman Joe Corvo are both headed to the Southeast Division on one-year deals, with Pouliot signing with Tampa Bay and Corvo returning to Carolina. Fellow blueliner...

Bruins Hoping Playoff Success of Prospects Builds Foundation for More Winning at NHL Level

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- The Bruins have gone to great lengths over the past two offseasons to retain the bulk of their Stanley Cup winning roster from 2011, believing the experience gained in that championship run is invaluable to knowing what it takes to reach that level again. But those 2011 Cup winners aren't the only players with championship experience in the Bruins system...

Statistical Profile: Greg Zanon

Greg Zanon was the Avs second* move in the 2012 free agency day, but he's going to be the first guy I profile. (*Matt Carkner excepted)Let's start with some basics and work our way into the advanced stuff. Zanon's a difficult one to profile, since he was on two teams, sites like Behindthenet.ca  don't do as well with players who played for 2 teams. Zanon's career...

Shawn Thornton Curses at, Fights Mark Wahlberg in Feature Film Cameo

Shawn Thornton certainly isn't doing any acting when he's getting in fights on the ice or driving opponents hard in to the boards. However, those same skills may well have come in handy as Thornton showed his skills as a thespian, performing a cameo in Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane's first feature film. Ted is the story of a veritable grown-up Pinocchio, a teddy bear...

Hockey Fix: Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara’s Top Moments (VIDEOS)

“Big Z” as he is called in the “Hub Of Hockey” has made his mark on the Boston Bruins franchise since his arrival in 2006. All Zdeno Chara has done in his tenure with the Black & Gold is become one of the top elite defensemen in the NHL. Chara has only has won the Norris once back in 2009, but he has always been in the mix. He is a leader by definition, plays the game...

Avalanche sign a defenseman after all, opt for Greg Zanon

This year’s Frantisek Kaberle for the Boston Bruins has found a new home, per the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch (let’s cross our fingers and hope the Avs don’t redact this one): Greg Zanon has signed with Avalanche

Bruins off season

According to a recent article on Yahoo! Sports by Emma Harger, the Bruins are keeping quiet during the free agent frenzy. All ready we say goodbye to Joe Corvo, Benoit Pouliot, and Greg Zanon. Although I would have liked to see Pouliot return, I am not that upset with the trade. Pouliot showed some flashes of brilliance and at other times looked like he was clueless. As for Corvo...

The Top Ten Tim Thomas Moments

#30 Tim Thomas Now that you have gotten past that heavy amount alliteration in the title and are over the fact that Tim Thomas will likely never be a Bruin again; it is time to look back and appreciate what he did for the Bruins despite his disappointing exit. Love him or hate him, Tim Thomas carried the Bruins on his back to the 2011 Stanley Cup Championship. His performance...
