For the first homecoming for Connor Hellebuyck and Adam Chapie, on ice turned out quite well for the UMass Lowell River Hawks. On Friday, the boys hit the ice fast scoring in the first period recording Joseph Gambardella’s (1) first collegiate goal. The Hawks added two goals to that lead in the second with goals from Stephen Buco (1) and Josh Holmstrom (1); the ladder of which was on the man advantage. The 3-0 lead lasted for less than two minutes when Mackenzie MacEachern got the lone goal for his team. Joseph Pendenza (3) finished off the offense for the game by adding the 4th Hawks’ goal of the night. UMass Lowell outshot the Michigan State Spartans 33-24 showing flares of the team from last year that we’ve missed thus far this season. The chemistry from UMass Lowell was visibly stronger. The road warriors showed their chemistry while taking on No. 4 ranked Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. Ryan McGrath (3) started off the scoring for the second Saturday in a row; however, this ga...

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – UMass Lowell entered the Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Saturday night to face the Michigan Wolverines as the underdog. However, the River Hawks left as the better school defeating the Wolverines, 2-1. Connor Hellebuyck became the first UMass Lowell goaltender to start back-to-back games and win back-to-back games and did so in front of his hometown crowd...
According to NHL rumor guru Eklund, the Philadelphia Flyers are heavily pursuing Dustin Byfuglien of the Winnipeg Jets. Byfuglien has battled some weight and focus issues, but seems to have put all that in the past this year. He’s been outstanding for the Jets from the blue line, and is among the NHL’s top offensive-defensemen. Which is why it’s odd that the Flyers would be...
Blues forward Maxim Lapierre will have missed five games when his suspension is complete, but because of the club’s light schedule in late October, 16 days will pass from the time of his hit on San Jose’s Dan Boyle until the first game he’s eligible to play.
“It is really long right now,” said Lapierre, who will sit out the final game of his suspension tonight against...
Evander Kane, one of the Winnipeg Jets top players was a question mark to play up until game time last night against the Stars of Dallas. The thought was he could or could not play.
Said Jets head coach Claude Noel, as per NHL.com, “Yeah, it was just maintenance. Game-time situation, we’ll see how he’s doing.” Kane, who is tied for the team lead in points, has eight in 11...
ST. LOUIS -- Alexander Steen has been on fire to start the season but, he insists, "I'm not doing anything different."
Steen, in fact, says he has been building toward his current level of play the last few years through his off-season preparation, which includes running 15 kilometers five times a week, roller blading with poles and doing yoga. Steen, 29, takes care...

From start to finish in Saturday night's game against the St. Louis Blues, the Nashville Predators didn't have much going right for them. It took just 5:27 into the game before the scoring broke out. Alexander Steen scored his first of two goals Saturday on the rush, backdoor, after receiving a pass from Kevin Shattenkirk.
In an attempt to get the team going, Matt Hendricks...
Put simply, it was a night the Nashville Predators would like to put behind them as soon as possible. Too bad they’ll have to wait a while in order to do that.
The St. Louis Blues came into Music City and thumped the Preds, 6-1. The score was a tad lopsided, however, as the Preds were in most of the game. Things got out of hand late, making the loss look worse than it was.
