I hate following this sort of thing early on in the process, but Smashville 24/7’s Ryan Porth and the Tennessean’s Joshua Cooper noted the following from Predators GM David Poile, who was speaking to reporters on a conference call after trading Anders Lindback to Tampa Bay: Poile believes [Ryan] Suter will test the market ... Poile says its unlikely he trades Suter’s rights. Poile worried about him testing market. Cooper went and disappeared after posting <a hre"http://www.twitter.com/JoshuaCooper">this quip... Poile says he thinks Suter will go to July 1 So we’ll see what transpires in terms of context over the next couple of hours.

Red Wings mid-day news: on Suter, Parise, Holland’s master plan and Lidstrom’s legacy

Sigh. As Bill pointed out—and yes, with the Chief thankfully back stateside after his world tour, Red Wings fans and other KK readers can expect some dueling banjos over the next couple weeks—Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia’s Tim Panaccio posited one of those “reports” that both exites us and kinda makes me Cringe: While there are a number of logical reasons why the Flyers...

Nashville losing confidence in re-signing Suter, Detroit still seen as likely landing spot

A couple of weeks back it was reported that impending free agent defenseman Ryan Suter would meet with the Nashville front office in hopes of getting a contract extension. That meeting came and went and according to the Josh Cooper of the Tennessean, Nashville GM David Poile is losing confidence as to whether the two sides can come together on a new deal before NHL free agency begins...

Can the Nashville Predators keep Ryan Suter?

Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter seems resolute about exploring unrestricted free agency. He knows he would attract massive offers from Stanley Cup contenders – most notably the Detroit Red Wings, a team with a major hole to fill in the wake of Nicklas Lidstrom’s retirement. But Predators general manager David Poile won’t turn the page on Suter. He is letting his other...

Red Wigns mid-day news: on Ken Holland, Ryan Suter speculation, Jay Garrison and ‘Tweeps’

As we’ve descended into the land of spurious rumors, Red Wings GM Ken Holland hasn’t exactly been puffing out his chest and making grand promises about free agent signings to be, having only really offered some understated remarks about the team’s future on NHL Live recently. As NHL.com looks forward to the Winter Classic while looking back at the dueling Brian Burke-Holland...

Potential UFA target: Ryan Suter

The Rangers top four defensemen are certainly the envy of the conference and most likely won’t change before the season opener. With that said, there is always a chance Sather makes a move for a Nash, or Bobby Ryan, etc. If such a trade were to be made, one of those four would likely have to head in the other direction. It’s not a move I would make, but it is still within the...

The Latest On Ryan Suter

from Michael Russo of Russo’s Rants, I got a few tweets last night asking if the Wild may trade for Ryan Suter’s rights now that it’s out there that he’s supplied a list of teams to the Nashville Predators that he’s willing to have his rights traded to. I never saw those reports, so I gave Suter’s agent, Neil Sheehy, a call and he denied them, saying it’s “100 percent...
