Curtis Sanford has been one of the few good stories on the Blue Jackets roster this season, and now the veteran goaltender is hobbled by a right hip injury. It's unclear how long Sanford will be sidelined, but Steve Mason has gotten both starts -- including the 2-1 shootout loss to Calgary on Tuesday -- since the Blue Jackets emerged from a three-day break for the holidays. Columbus' next game is Thursday at Dallas."I don't know what's going on with me," Sanford told The Columbus Dispatch. "My hip ... it's getting locked right up in the socket."It gets pretty sore. We're doing our best to loosen that area up to the point where it's not going to be an issue."Sanford could barely get up off the ice after making saves during the latter stages of an eventual 6-5 loss in Nashville on Dec. 22, his last outing.Despite Sanford being in obvious pain, Blue Jackets coach Scott Arniel said he never considered taking him out of the game after talking with club trainers.Sanford is listed as day-to-day.NOTES, QUOTES Inability to hold lead continues to plague Columbus --Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss to Calgary marked the eighth straight game in which the Blue Jackets have failed to hold a lead after two periods. Five of those games have been lost in regulation, two have been won in overtime, one has been lost in overtime and one has been lost in a shootout.--The Blue Jackets are 15-4-3 vs. Calgary in Nationwide Arena, including Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss. They have more wins against the Flames in Columbus than any other club outside the Central Division.QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's no secret what's going on with our team in the third period." -- Blue Jackets right winger Derek Dorsett, after yet another blown lead in a 2-1 shootout loss to Calgary on Tuesday.ROSTER REPORTPLAYER NOTES:--C Derick Brassard had four points (1-3-4) in his previous three games but was demoted to the fourth line for Tuesday's game vs. Calgary. Even so, Brassard scored the Jackets' only goal midway through the second period. It was his fourth goal of the season.--C Ryan Johansen is still on the move. After playing a checking-line role in Monday's 4-1 loss in Chicago, Johansen was elevated to the No. 1 line with Rick Nash and Jeff Carter for Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss vs. Calgary.--G Steve Mason fell to 4-15-2 this season despite stopping 25 of 26 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to Calgary. The only goal Mason allowed came with the Flames on the power play when Calgary's Jarome Iginla was left wide open in the slot.MEDICAL WATCH:--G Curtis Sanford (hip) is day-to-day.--LW Kristian Huselius (lower body) is out until February.--D Radek Martinek (concussion) is out indefinitely.GOALTENDERS:--Steve Mason--Curtis SanfordDEFENSE PAIRINGS:--Fedor Tyutin, Nikita Nikitin--John Moore, James Wisniewski--Marc Methot, Grant ClitsomeFIRST LINE:--LW Rick Nash, C Jeff Carter, RW Ryan Johansen--LW Vinny Prospal, C Antoine Vermette, RW Mark LetestuTHIRD LINE:--LW R.J.
