Since the beginning of February, the NHL’s assist leader has been Ted Purcell of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has 18 assists in that period. He also has six goals for 24 points. That makes him the second highest scorer in this time period behind teammate Steve Stamkos.
Tampa Bay is a weak team that will likely make the playoffs and Ted Purcell is generally not seen as a top scorer, but this is a sign that as long as he continues to play with Stamkos he could make a significant offensive jump next now and into next season.
