Clarke MacArthur came out of nowhere at the start of this season recording 5 goals in 4 games, while cruising on his way to a 21 goals and 62 points campaign. This crushed his previous regular season point total, which was at 35 points. MacArthur earned $1.1 million this season and he is due a big raise. Although he did indicate today that he would take a home town discount to stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs. With that in mind, how much should MacArthur be getting per year and for how many years?
Now taking in account that he just turned 26 and this is his first impact season. MacArthur played extremely well with Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin. He is also a very physical players and a prototypical Brian Burke forward. Plus seeing the desire from both sides to get a deal done, I see MacArthur signing somewhere around the $3.5 million per year mark, over 3 to 4 years . Now I do feel that prediction is a little low, but after reading MacArthur’s desire to stay and fit his new contact with the needs of the organization. I think we will be getting one of our productive wingers at a very reasonable rate.
