Welcome to the fifteenth edition of "How to Beat the Goalie" on Fang Faction. Thursday night, the Nashville Predators will play the Dallas Stars, who is desperate for wins. The Dallas Stars' goalies are Kari Lehtonen and Richard Bachman. Read more of this one of a kind article, after the jump.

Edition 15: Dallas Stars Goalies: Kari Lehtonen and Richard Bachman

The projected starting goalie for the Dallas Stars is Kari Lehtonen. Of course it is not official, but let's be honest, they need wins. The Stars are three points behind with only two games remaining. Lehtonen has been their go-to-guy all season along. So in the playoff hunt, there is no doubt that Kari Lehtonen will start against the Nashville Predators. Lehtonen and Richard Bachman will be looked at with in-depth stats and video.

Kari Lehtonen is the projected starting goalie on Fang Faction. Lehtonen has played played in 58 games this season, but could have played in more games. He suffered a groin injury earlier in the season, November 27, and missed about a month of hockey.

In Lehtonen's last start, he gave up four goals and stopped 21 shots to lose to the San Jose Sharks, Tuesday night. In Lehtonen's last five starts, is 1-4-0. I guess that is why the Stars are in big trouble of making the playoffs.

Kari Lehtonen has been a solid goaltender throughout his career. He is 9th in the NHL in Save Percentage with a .922. If his groin injury didn't set him back, I almost guarantee you, he would be in talks of the Vezina Trophy.

Here is how the Nashville Predators will score on Kari Lehtonen:

  • High Left Shoulder/Glove Side: Watch for the Predators to shoot glove-side, over the left shoulder to score. Especially short-side. That his biggest weakness. This is where their target practice comes in.

  • Traffic In Front: Watch for the Predators to continue to clog up the slot and screen Lehtonen. Tips will go in.

  • Make Him Move Post to Post: Quick passing from the corners to the crashing player will most likely go in. Watch for the Predators to attempt that.

Kari Lehtonen's 2011-2012 stats:

It seems like Richard Bachman will get another night off. The last time Bachman played was Friday, March 30, against the Vancouver Canucks. In that game, he came on in relief of Lehtonen. Bachman gave up one goal and stopped three shots.

The last time Richard Bachman started in a game was March 14 against the Winnipeg Jets, where he got the loss. In that game, Bachman gave up five goals and stopped 23 of 28 shots.

Since Bachman is only 24 years old, he has time to improve his skills. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Possibly one day, he could be Team USA's starting goalie in the Winter Olympics.

I am not going to analyze Bachman too much. Also, I am going to only post one video. This post would be very slow if I put another couple videos on. Here is how the Nashville Predators will score on Bachman, if he even plays:

  • Quick Shots: The Predators will have to shoot accurately, often. If this happens, you can expect several goals to be scored on Bachman.
