Back in November, I wrote a two-part article titled ‘Who’s to Blame for Columbus Blue Jackets’ Mess?’  In Part One, I identified senior Blue Jackets management as the primary culprit to the mess.  However, team majority owner John P. McConnell has expressed his full support of Blue Jackets team president Mike Priest and General Manager (GM) Scott Howson during meetings with the entire ownership group It should be noted, however, that McConnell’s proclamation incensed the fan base to the point of staging a mass protest demanding that changes be made to these two specific senior management officials  Given the apparent “vote of confidence” by McConnell, any changes to this sector of the organization don’t appear imminent. But that is not to say that changes cannot be made to improve the fortunes of the Blue Jackets, albeit they won’t be recognized until next season at the earliest. So the question is, how do you improve the fortunes of the NHL’s worst team (14-32-6) one with a disgr...

Has Nash Had Enough Of Columbus?

from John Shannon of Sportsnet, Sportsnet has been running the HOCKEY CENTRAL Trade Tracker for a few weeks now in anticipation of the Feb. 27 deadline. It comes as no surprise that some of the players discussed will not be moved. And I think we’ve been pretty honest in saying that. But one player who just might be in the mix is Columbus Blue Jackets winger Rick Nash, who continually...

Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun reports that the Blue Jackets may finally be ready to deal captain Rick Nash and that the Rangers are interested.Garrioch adds that Nash's $7.8-million cap hit through 2018 is going to make it difficult for the Rangers to fit him under the cap, but the Blueshirts could wait until they free up some cap space this off-season to make a deal with...

Blue Jackets Prevail Over Ducks in OT

On Wednesday, the Columbus Blue Jackets felt gypped out of overtime and a point in the NHL standings due to a clock issue at the Staples Center. While the evidence is still being examined in the incidence and whether or not the Kings did or did not score in the final second of the game to win in regulation, there was no doubt about the results on Friday against the Ducks. Very interesting comments from Preds GM David Polie on the trade deadline: The problem, Poile believes, is that the vast majority of the league’s other 29 teams feel as if they will be there too. As of the start of play Monday, the difference between seventh place and 12th place in the Western Conference was six points and the difference between seventh and 11th in the Eastern...
