TORONTO (Jan. 30) â The perfect summary of Darcy Tuckerâs playing career in the National Hockey League occurred during a ten-day span in October 2009 â a transitory blip that connected elation and despair.
Having returned to the arena in which he made his name, Tucker enjoyed a prosperous, emotional night on Oct. 13 of that season, scoring once and setting up another in a victory for the...

Avalanche Warning: The Weekly Colorado Avs Report
Welcome to Avalanche Warning, my new weekly feature on the Northwest Division's Colorado Avalanche. Today, I will look at the week ahead for the Avalanche coming out of the All-Star break. The Avs should be a well-rested group after sending only Gabriel Landeskog to the all-star weekend and even he shouldn't be the worse for wear as he did not play in the All-Star Game...
The importance of a guy like Jay McClement
Adrian Dater had me, and superfan Dario on his podcast tonight (hey what a coincidence that I'm blogging in the first time in 2 months. And by Coincidence I realized that, no I actually enjoy this and should do it again). One thing we touched on was the Erik Johnson/Jay McClement for Chris Stewart/Kevin Shattenkirk trade, and we touched on Jay McClement briefly, but I wanted...
Duchene not ready yet
Getty Images
Today marked the four-week anniversary of Matt Duchene’s left knee injury. Four weeks was the minimum time the Avalanche said the young forward would be sidelined. Duchene would be out “at least a month” was the official company line.
Unfortunately for Avs fans, the minimum time will be exceeded. Duchene will not be in the lineup Tuesday when the Avs...
Duchene not at practice
Matt Duchene is not at Avalanche practice today. I’ll have whatever update the team has on him afterward, but obviously it’s not a great sign. I’ll stick to my prediction of last night’s blog on him though: another couple weeks.
Gabriel Landeskog also is not at practice, having been in Ottawa over the weekend. He will be in the lineup against the Oilers tomorrow...
New “Hockey Talk” podcast: All Avalanche talk
I hope you awesome, splendiforous folks click on the podcast below. It’s a solid hour of nothing but Avalanche talk, which is what I know the vast majority of you want to listen to. I like to vary the podcast, talking with other people around the league on subjects other than the Avs, but I know where my bread is buttered.
So, Avalanche fanatics should click on the link below...
Dawg Nation, Avalanche join forces to help fallen hockey player
Dawg Nation, a collection of Denver-area, beer-league hockey players who reach out to peers in need, have joined forces with the Avalanche to help Cody Beekman, who in October was paralyzed from a car accident. Beekman, 21, grew up playing hockey for the Hyland Hills Junior Hockey Association (ages 9-18, ended playing for midget-major A in 2007-08), and was most recently playing...
Injured Matt Duchene might be weeks from returning to Avs
As the Avalanche returned to practice after the NHL all-star break, it appeared more a matter of weeks — not days — until Matt Duchene returns from injury.
Colorado Avalanche (26-23-2) at Edmonton Oilers (18-26-5), 9:30 p.m. (ET)
A loss a week ago knocked the Colorado Avalanche out of the playoff picture. They'll try to rebound tonight and snap the Edmonton Oilers' six-game home point streak in this series.
