The New Jersey Devils hold the ninth overall draft pick in Sundays NHL Draft and Hunter Shinkaruk is certainly on their radar.
“ It’s definitely a team that when I look at teams that I might be taken by, it’s definitely in my range,” the Calgary native said, with New York City in the backdrop and a smile plastered across his face.
“Obviously going to New Jersey would be pretty cool.”
Shinkaruk said on Friday that New Jersey was one of the few teams he has met with on more than one occasion, counting up to “probably three.’’
This won’t be the first NHL Draft that Shinkaruk has attended, but unlike last year in Pittsburgh where he joked about “running around the city”, this weekend has been filled with a lot more nervousness and stress.
“If I could, I would like to fast forward to when my name gets called,” Shinkaruk said about the amount of stress increasing as the days go on.
