The Carolina Hurricanes announced they have recalled former Rangers 2006 first round pick Bobby Sanguinetti and he could make his season debut tonight at Madison Square Garden.Sanguinetti ranks second on the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) and seventh among all AHL blueliners this season with 35 points. The Rangers traded Sanguinetti to the Hurricanes on draft day in 2010 for a 5th round pick that year (Jasper Fasth) and a 2nd rounder in 2011 (traded to Calgary as part of Tim Erixon deal)....i thought for sure Sanguinetti was going to be a legit offensive defenseman in the NHL, but injuries seriously derailed his development....not a bad job by Sather turning an injury prone defenseman into two of the Rangers more highly regarded prospects.Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at n...

Tim Brent bolsters 'Canes' power play

Tim Brent has moved to power-play time and it has given the Hurricanes a different look. It also has corresponded with spans of more power-play production as Brent offers a steady influence. Hurricanes Weekly Report 3/5-3/11

The Hurricanes managed to pick up three points in four games this past week when you consider how badly they were outplayed in all four games. They were outshot in all but one game (which was the one they lost, oddly enough), controlled only 41% of the even strength corsi events and 36% of the shots on goal which shows that they were struggling to control play and had a few bounces...

Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers 3/13/12

The Hurricanes are now winless against both New York teams as they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Rangers last night. The game went about as most would expect considering the Rangers are sitting on top of the Eastern Conference and the Hurricanes are out of the race but are still battling to win games. Despite the score, that's pretty much what this game was like. Carolina managed...
