The Carolina Hurricanes opened the Eastern Conference Final with a 6-2 defeat to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night at Lenovo Center. Carolina entered the series after a record 11-day layoff following their sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers, the longest break between playoff games since at least 1920.
