Edmonton Oilers’ prospect defenceman Taylor Fedun suffered a broken femur in an icing race to the puck during the pre-season and has only recently begun skating again. With news from the GM meetings saying that hybrid icing has been gaining support, the Oilers decided to ask Fedun what he thought.
No one goes to a hockey game excited to watch the races for the puck, and Fedun is not the only player to have suffered such a traumatic injury. Because the focus of the league has turned to player safety in the wake of Sydney Crosby’s concussion issues, the long talked about hybrid icing suggestions may finally get somewhere.

Oilers lose 3-2 to Sharks
The Edmonton Oilers and their fans remember when Jerome Iginla commented that “It’s always fun to play spoilers to the Oilers” as the Calgary Flames knocked the Oilers out of the playoff running. I'll tells ya, it's gonna be hard to find a way to keep blogging about the Oilers daily over the next month. Just what exactly do the games mean now? What am I suppose to write about? I can only say this team has been a big disappointment so many times before doing so becomes a huge bore.
Tonight the Edmonton Oilers face-off against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and if I...
The Edmonton Oilers looked like a decent team on Wednesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. They scored three times, and pitched a shutout.
The Columbus Blue Jackets looked like the worst team in the KHL on Wednesday against the Edmonton Oilers. I think they had 5 and half shots on goal, and half their team fell asleep on the bench. Rick Nash got bored in the third, and went...
“We have a few people who should look in the mirror. You’re Edmonton Oilers ... you’re a millionaire. Suck it up and play hockey.”
-Edmonton coach Tom Renney after losing to the Sharks last night. More from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal.
Below, watch an unhappy Renney, post-game.

Oilers shut-out Blue Jackets 3-0
After Tom Renney’s very public address discussing the attitude and effort shown by some members of the Edmonton Oilers, the team managed to win the battle for the basement. Renney has and will be criticised for airing the team’s dirty laundry in a very Pat Quinn like post came press conference Monday night following the loss to the San Jose Sharks...
