The Nashville Predators clinched a postseason berth without even taking the ice on Wednesday.
Nashville (44-25-8) secured its seventh playoff berth in eight seasons after the Anaheim Ducks posted a 3-1 triumph over the San Jose Sharks.
The Predators became the fourth Western Conference team to qualify for the playoffs, joining St. Louis, Vancouver and Detroit.
Teemu Selanne broke a tie with 14:38 remaining in the third period as host Anaheim knocked San Jose out of first place in the Pacific Division.
Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry also scored and Jonas Hiller made 28 saves in his 70th start of the season for the Ducks, who were eliminated from playoff contention when Los Angeles defeated Calgary 3-0 earlier Wednesday.
