VIEWERS TV NOTE: Inside the Lightning: The New St. Pete Times Forum will premiere on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at 10:30 p.m. immediately following the Lightning vs. Penguins game on Sun Sports. Sun Sports second 2011 episode of Inside the Lightning covers the remodeling of the St. Pete Times Forum, the home of the Lightning, from construction to the fans reactions on Opening Night. Lightning CEO Tod Leiweke gives Sun Sports an exclusive guided tour of some of the highlights of the remodeling. The arena was outfitted with all new seats, a new outdoor party deck and an upgraded lighting and HVAC air conditioning system. In addition, the St. Pete Times Forum now houses a pipe organ, and the Lightning will have a live organ player for every home game. Two of the largest Tesla cords ever made were also added to shoot lightning when Tampa Bay scores a goal. Viewers will hear from Jeff Vinik, the owner of the Lightning, as he privately funded the 40 million renovation. One of his primary goals was to have the venue reflect the surrounding city, so fans would very clearly know that theyre attending a hockey game in Tampa Bay. Sun Sports captures the fans reactions to many of the new additions. The episode also touches on the Lightning Foundations Lightning Community Heroes program. The Tampa Bay Lightning will honor one individual during each home game and donate 50,000 to the Heros cause. Sun Sports talks to the programs first winner.
