Another important game was out of reach for the Chicago Blackhawks, as they took a 3-2 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks.
While it’s not necessarily Corey Crawford’s fault, it is another loss for the sophomore goaltender. The Blackhawks needed to get back on track with Jonathan Toews in the lineup and set a tone against the rival Vancouver Canucks.
Instead, however, last year’s brilliant rookie goaltender, continued to show signs he’s in the midst of second-year growing pains.
ESPN Chicago addressed the issue between the pipes in its 50-game review of the season for the Blackhawks.
The bad:
“He’s 35th in goals against and 36th in save percentage. And Crawford isn’t completely passing the eye test either. He makes big saves but not enough of them and there have been weak ones along the way as well.”
The good:
“… He’s talented and showed enough last postseason that to simply say he can’t get it done would be foolish.”
