The title of this article is a loaded question. Berglund and the Blues are just 25 games into their 2013-14 schedule and to use a tired expression, there's a lot of hockey left to play. Still, it's never too early to assess, analyze and predict. In Berglund's case, the forward was given a "prove yourself" contract at the end of 2012-13 and would have to show the Blues something special in order to receive a longer, larger contract.  How has Berglund performed to date? Is his effort and numbers worthy of a new deal? Let's start with Berglund's numbers. As always, it should be noted that numbers are only one part of the story. Effort, determination and other intangibles aren't reflected in the usual statistics we follow. And he was a minus-4. Yes, it was a lockout-lacerated...

The Los Angeles Kings have won eight straight home games against the St. Louis Blues. Keeping that run going will mean ending a three-game losing streak at Staples Center on Monday night. Los Angeles (16-7-4) has gone 1-1-3 in its last five overall since a four-game winning streak, and a sputtering power play is partially to blame. The Kings have gone 0 for 18 with the man advantage...

Plan the Parade In St. Louis

from Michael Russo of the StarTribune, This time, I really mean it. It seems every year for the past three, I write a column on this being the “Year of the St. Louis Blues.” Turns out I was just ahead of the game — or completely wrong. Two years ago, St. Louis’ 109-point season was spoiled in a sweep in the second round by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Los...

Winless in their last two games and coming off of a 2-1 loss in the dying seconds at home to the Calgary Flames on Saturday, the Kings looked to turn things around tonight, but had a very stiff test, as the St. Louis Blues were in town. The Blues entered this game with a plus-32 goal differential, tied with the [...]
