Mark Streit led by example on Saturday.
The new captain of the New York Islanders collected three points to power his team to a 6-2 preseason victory over the New Jersey Devils.
Streit had a goal and two assists for the Islanders, who had eight different players record at least one point.
The 33-year-old Switzerland native was named the team's captain on Wednesday.
Streit missed all of last season following shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum and a torn rotator cuff. The former Olympian collected 11 goals and 38 assists in 82 games in the 2009-10 campaign.
