After missing the past 12 games with a concussion, Islanders goaltender Al Montoya almost made an All-Star worthy save in overtime against the Maple Leafs Tuesday night. Unfortunately for Montoya and the Islanders, he came up just short. Check out how Tuesday night's tilt between Toronto and the Islanders ended, when Clarke MacArthur netted his second tally of the night, giving the Leafs the 4-3 victory, midway through overtime.

The Islanders Continue To Do Everything Wrong

It’s another dreadful season for the lowly New York Islanders. The team is in last place in the Atlantic division and there is no hope in sight. With attendance flailing the team decided to send out an email advertising second half ticket packages to see one of the worst teams in the sport. The Icelanders used an “Invest in your team” rhetoric to guilt fans into buying tickets...

Dee Karl: Leafs In Isles Country Now

With a late flight home after last night's shut out, there was no morning skate or morning presser so we don't know if Al Montoya will be making his first start since his concussion. Jack Capuano should be speaking at 5 pm pre-game and should announce the decision then. With luck, he's been doing his homework and has found a way to ensure the Isles do not hit the...

Ken Beckett: Monster Mashed - Tavares' Point Streak Ends as Leafs Blank Islanders

A solid goaltending performance put an end to the league's longest point streak this year, as Jonas Gustavsson stopped 25 shots and kept John Tavares off the scoresheet in a 3-0 Toronto Maple Leafs victory over the New York Islanders on Monday. He wasn't busy through the first two periods, but Gustavsson came up big when the Leafs needed him to, stopping 25 shots to pick...

Dee Karl: John Tavares: All Star

So here we are. Thursday after back-to-back losses to the Maple Leafs without hockey. But we do have All Star goings-on, don't we? While JT was the subject of many north-of-the-border articles as one of Canada's favorite sons, he still belongs to us here on the Island and showed his devotion to the Isles by working harder than anyone else on the ice on Monday and Tuesday...
