The New York Islanders unveiled the uniforms they will be wearing on January 29th when they take on the New York Rangers at Yankee Stadium as a part of the NHL’s “Stadium Series” this year. The uniforms (pictured above) are a “futuristic” take on the Islanders threads and they’re exponentially better than the team’s current third jerseys, although that’s not saying much. It’ll be interesting to see if the other teams participating in the Stadium Series games will unveil new sweaters as well.   The post Islanders unveil new Stadium Series jerseys appeared first on The Nosebleeds.

If Rick DiPietro hopes to resuscitate his NHL career, he’s going to have to keep riding buses

Former New York Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro tells the Globe and Mail's Viv Bernstein that he's doing quite well in the AHL at least on a personal basis, and the current Charlotte Checkers (the Carolina Hurricanes' AHL affiliate) goaltender tells Bernstein that he's very happy to be taking one final kick at the pro hockey can, but it sounds like DiPietro'...

New York Islanders Unveil Coors Light Stadium Series Jerseys

John Tavares – NHL The New York Islanders were the first of seven teams to unveil their Coors Light Stadium Series jerseys that they will be wearing this January against the New York Rangers at Yankee Stadium. The crest on the jersey modeled by Islanders captain John Tavares yesterday, mimicked the modified Islanders chrome-treated logo that the NHL released earlier this month...

New York Islanders reveal Stadium Series uniforms

The New York Islanders have revealed the uniforms that they will wear for their Stadium Series game against the New York Rangers at Yankee Stadium on January 29th.  The logo is an altered version of their current one, but it still looks pretty cool.  The striping on the uniform, with the white shoulders and special pant cover is an awesome look.  I guess this means that the New...

Dan Petriw: The Bridgeport Report focuses on Strome and Lee

I had the chance to attend the Bridgeport Sound Tigers practice this morning at Webster Bank Arena. The practice was defense minded with constant work on breakouts, odd man rushes and d-zone awareness. As the Sound Tigers are slowly trying to come together as a very young team one thing is obvious to the naked eye; Ryan Strome and Anders Lee are a lot of fun to watch. After...

Dee Karl: Donovan Gets A Ferry Ride

For Matt Donovan's post game honesty regarding his mistake on the ice, he gets a ferry ticket to Bridgeport. In his place, Calvin deHaan will finally get his shot in Uniondale. It was another heartbreaker as the Isles continue to fall short on the score board. But Jack Capuano seemed to believe that "it was a costly turnover" that lead to yet another loss. Matt...

The AHL’s Charlotte Checkers have released goaltender Rick DiPietro from his PTO contract. Yup, things just keep getting worse for the guy. In five games with the Checkers, DiPietro posted a 5.18 goals against average and .846 save-percentage. Islanders Unveil Stadium Series Jerseys, Substitute Isles Logo for ‘NY’ Crest (Photos)

The Islanders like to remind folks that the Rangers (and Sabres?) aren’t New York’s only hockey club, and they’ll be making that clear when they take on the Rangers at Yankee Stadium on Jan. 29. On Tuesday, the Isles released their Stadium Series uniforms. They’ve done away with the team’s logo and replaced it with “NY” in big shiny letters. For years, the Long...

Red Wings-Islanders Preview

The New York Islanders haven't won since beating Detroit nearly two weeks ago. Surprisingly, another matchup with the surging Red Wings may be just what they need to get on track. New York seeks a sixth straight victory over Detroit on Friday on Long Island. John Tavares had a goal and an assist in the Islanders' 5-4 shootout win over the Red Wings on Nov. 16, part of a...

Thoughts On Wings, Leafs And Islanders

ESPN Hockey Insiders express their views from last night... @ESPN_Burnside: Folks have been predicting one form or another of a Detroit Red Wings collapse for a decade now. These dire predictions often accompany a period of tepid play, a lack of scoring and poor goaltending that seem (to some observers) to portend a long-term disaster. All the Red Wings do in the face of...
