The trade deadline has passed and the New York Islanders are almost exactly the same team that started out the day. The only exception is the loss of Rob Schremp on waivers to the Atlanta Thrashers.

The two Islanders who had the largest possibility of being moved were Radek Martinek and Zenon Konopka. According to Katie Strang of Newsday on Twitter it is believed that Snow wanted a second round pick for either one of them.

Earlier in the day rumors were flying around that Konopka was headed to the Anaheim Ducks for a second-rounder, but that trade never came through.

Martinek was considered by many to be one of the best defense-men available, but there was little to no mention of him going anywhere on Twitter. Despite that according to Strang Martinek drew the most interest.

Reaction from Islander fans on Twitter was mixed, with some saying anything better than a fourth round pick was worth the trade for Konopka. This could be justified by the fact that Konopka is a free agent and could come back to the Islanders in the summer.

Other fans were not too happy with the idea of trading one of the leaders in the locker-room and the best faceoff guy.

GM Garth Snow seems pretty content with the team right now, and it seems he may be straying away from any moves after the season as well.
