Found October 14, 2013 on Sports Injury Alert:
San Jose Sharks rookie forward Tomas Hertl wasted no time making a name for himself in the NHL this season. After taking a hit to his upper body on Saturday, it looks like Hertl will not miss any game time and is set to return to action Tuesday night for the Sharks according to Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area. The 19-year old had an assist in his debut against the Vancouver Canucks and then followed that up with two goals against the Phoenix Coyotes. And then we all know what happened against the New York Rangers. Hertl netted four goals on the night, but none bigger than his last. With the game well in hand Hertl scored a highlight reel, breakaway, between the legs goal. After that last goal, head Todd McLellan wisely kept him on the bench for the rest of the game in fear of retribution. In each of the next two games, the rookie forward was on the receiving end of some questionable hits. Luckily, it does appear that either will cause him to miss time, but it is certainly a cause for con...

Tomas Hertl’s incredible goal

Tomas Hertl has taken a lot of grief for his goal against the New York Rangers. Some purists and traditionalists don’t like the fact that he pulled off that move in a blowout game, calling it direspectful. Some even called for someone from the Rangers to go over and “have a word” with the Sharks’ 19 year-old rookie. I thought it was fantastic and think that the NHL would...

Doug Wilson’s Strategy Is Paying off for the Sharks

Last season when Doug Wilson traded away Douglas Murray, Michal Handzus and Ryan Clowe, many believed that the San Jose Sharks were throwing in the towel in an effort to start the rebuilding process.  Wilson’s intentions however, were completely the opposite. Getting rid of those players was a sign that he was trying to improve the current roster, rather than simply piling...

Rangers waive Aaron Asham and Martin Biron

The New York Rangers are off to a simply abysmal start with a 1-4-0 record and a minus-16 goal differential so something has to change. On Monday GM Glen Sather made the first moves. Joining the waiver wire on Monday were forward Arron Asham as well as veteran backup goaltender Martin Biron. Biron being cut is a surprise even though his numbers are as bad as you'll see in the...

Sharks forward Logan Couture eyes Olympic spot

The next stop for Logan Couture could be Sochi. While all his focus is on making sure the San Jose Sharks win the Stanley Cup this season the former 67's centre also is trying to secure a spot with Canada's Olympic team. If anybody asks Todd McLellan he doesn't mince words. "I think it's a real motivator for him" the Sharks coach said Saturday. "...

Instead, he used his forearm to drill the Sharks veteran into the boards, resulting in a scary collision...
