COLUMBUS, OHIO The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed right wing Cam Atkinson on Injured Reserve retroactive to January 23, club Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced tonight. Atkinson is day-to-day with a lower body injury.The 5-7, 172-pound native of Riverside, Connecticut has tallied one goal in three games this season after notching 17-21-38, 14 penalty minutes and a plusminus rating of 7 in 33 games with the American Hockey Leagues Springfield Falcons. He has appeared in 30 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets the past two seasons, registering 8-7-15 and 14 penalty minutes.The Blue Jackets return to action on Monday when they host the Dallas Stars. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET. Columbus' Atkinson placed on injured reserve

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed promising young forward Cam Atkinson on the injured reserve list because of a groin injury, the Columbus Dispatch reported. He can be reactivated as early as Jan. 30. Atkinson, 23, has scored one goal in the three games he's played this season. He provided optimism when he scored five goals in Columbus' two final games last season.
