The Blue Jackets Could be Heavy Sellers

With the removal of Scott Howson as the Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager (GM) and the hiring of drafting and development guru Jarmo Kekalainen to replace Howson, the philosophy of patience could have been replaced with one of a major upheaval, albeit one with Kekalainen’s stamp of youth and playing the game at a high rate of speed, both physically and mentally. One seismic...

Blue Jackets Moving In The Right Direction

from Michael Arace of the Columbus Dispatch, The process started with an incredibly complicated deal — among the team, Nationwide, the convention authority, and city, county and state officials — that took two years to assemble. Under intense pressure, Blue Jackets majority owner John P. McConnell traded power and capital to give his franchise a chance at long-range stability...

Jackets stick with the plan, and it's working

When you do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result, is that insane? Not at all, especially if youre a hockey team that believes in the system and believes in each other. Columbus winger Matt Calvert, who has the game-winning goals in two of the Blue Jackets last three wins, says the hottest team in the NHL took off on this torrid streak by never losing...

Peter Tessier: Trade Deadline Currency: New CBA Style

There's been some great discussion on Twitter so follow Pete HERE The Winnipeg Jets have a currency and situation a few teams want for the 2013-14 season, expiring contracts and cap room. It’s not just the Jets but other teams like the Florida Panthers (14 expiring contracts), Oilers (13 expiring), Predators (10 expiring), Sabres (11 expiring), and Columbus (10 expiring...

GDT - Game 25: Red Wings (12-8-4) at Blue Jackets (8-12-4) 2:00

Half way there, and DET are sitting in 4th. After the start to this season, who'd a thunk it?  That is the good news anyways.  In the crosstown traffic that is the WC, the Wings are only 4 points from 11th position. The problematic bit is that DET are the road warrior the rest of the month;  8 road games versus just 3 at home.  April is a little better, 7 road, 6 at JLA. ...

GDT - Game 26: Red Wings (12-9-4) host Blue Jackets (9-12-4) 5:00

Yesterdays tilt with the BJ's was a gawd-awful mess.  Really, how does a man get abused by BJ's?  Uncle Mike obviously doesn't know either, as this is the second occurance of the sky falling:   “I thought we were bad,'' Babcock said. “Why was that? Was that mental prep? Was that the coach never got any messages across? Lack of preparation? Did we practice...

That's it, I have nothing to say about this game but on the other hand you may have a lot to talk about, so the floor is yours.

Winnipeg Jets poised for stronger second half

Don’t be surprised if the Winnipeg Jets make a second-half push. Many factors contributed to their so-so first half, including injuries and an unfavorable schedule. Here are reasons for optimism: Despite having to travel extensively in the Eastern Conference while waiting for realignment, the Jets went 8-5-1 on the road during the season’s first half. Winnipeg plays 14 of its...
