A guy who has quickly grown on me as one of my favorite Flyers since the beginning of the year is Jakub Voracek.  My man crush has gotten to be unreasonable at times for some of my friends.  I am a little sour that Homer was proactive in his signings of Coburn (which looks like an absolute steal at 4 years for 18 million) and van Riemsdyk (which looks risky outside of his playoff performance from yesteryear), while forgetting about Voracek, leaving him to prove his worth all year after receiving a one year contract this past offseason.  I understand loyalty and prior knowledge (Voracek was labelled as lackadaisical when with Columbus) is a huge driver in those dealings; but after the jump, I will get into the fact why I have such a huge fixation for the guy and why Homer is kicking himself for not jumping on the bandwagon sooner… Continue reading "Jake’s Make or Break Season"

Idiot Flyers fan’s customized Wayne Simmonds jersey: ‘The Black Guy’ (pic)

Hoo boy. Way to class it up there, guy. Yeesh. A fitting punishment for this dolt’s terribly insensitive and inappropriate customized jersey would be to allow Wayne Simmonds do what the Philadelphia Flyers forward did to Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Eric Brewer earlier this season, although I imagine Simmonds would likely do what I’m doing [...]

Holmgren Deserves Credit For The Flyers Makeover

from Scott Burnside of ESPN, Holmgren did not get a nod for the newly created GM of the Year Award, but he should have. In fact, it’s mind boggling that he did not, given the moves he has made and the bright future he has charted for the Philadelphia Flyers. Not that he has given it a moment’s thought. Holmgren is, instead, focused on the pursuit of the trophy that has eluded...

Bryz Not To Blame for Flyers Poor Play in Game 2

The Philadelphia Flyers were out hustled in their 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. They were out shot, out shone and out hustled. Aside from the first 10-15 minutes of the game, the Flyers were a disaster. Some fans have turned to Ilya Bryzgalov as the scapegoat for the loss. My first question is what game were these people watching? If not for Ilya Bryzgalov, the...

Flyers getting offense from every source

As was the case over the course of the regular season, the Philadelphia Flyers have continued to exhibit perhaps the most balanced offensive arsenal in the entire NHL thus far during the postseason.Through their first seven playoff contests, Philadelphia leads all teams in goals scored with 34.Just one of three clubs (the others being the Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings...

Devils Beat Flyers 4-1, Even Series at One

Well Philly fans, the puck is in your rink, what needs to be done for the Flyers to rebound from this game? The Flyers looked great at the start of the game, then they could not generate any offense at all. 2 shots in the 2nd period and 9 in the 3rd for a total of 20 for the game just won’t cut it. New Jersey fans, I am sure you are satisfied with the way the game played-out tonight.

Flyers Fail to Show Up, Devils Tie Series Up

The Philadelphia Flyers played a solid first period on Tuesday night, and then, quite simply, got their asses handed to them the rest of the way. The New Jersey Devils went on to defeat the listless Flyers by a final score of 4-1, evening up their semifinal conference series. The Flyers came out and played well early in the first period and jumped out to an early lead in front of...

Casual, Jam-Less Flyers Poop The Bed in Game 3 Overtime Loss

Where was the timeout tonight Pete?   I don’t know about you but I’m tired of people saying, “we’re still the better team”, or “we’ll still win the series”. People are saying this even after this overtime loss the the Devils tonight. This is the exact same attitude that has the Flyers in this position to begin with. I do agree, that overall, the Flyers are the better...

New Jersey Devils Blast Past Philadelphia Flyers to Even Series (Video)

PHILADELPHIA -- Adam Larsson watched Game 1 from the press box, dressed sharply in a suit and tie. From the rafters, he sat helplessly as he watched his New Jersey Devils lose a tough road opener in this Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Flyers in overtime. In Game 2, though, he received his chance to shed the suit and don a uniform. And the 19-year-old rookie took...

Rookie making playoff debut scores key goal in Devils' victory

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov made one big save after another until a rookie playing his first playoff game put one in. That got the New Jersey Devils going. David Clarkson followed by scoring the tiebreaking goal with 8:43 left and the Devils rallied to beat the Flyers 4-1 in Game 2 Tuesday night, evening their Eastern Conference semifinals series...

The Sports betting edge for May 3, 2012

For the NHL Playoffs I’m being a homer but I have to be. If I can get the Philadelphia Flyers as an underdog which they are now I’m going to take them all day. As an underdog the Flyers are 4-1 in their last 5 games and in playoff games where they’re the underdog.
