There were a lot of people who hadn't even heard of Jamie Benn last season. In fact, I picked him up from the free agent list for my fantasy team and since then, Benn has been one of my best players. This year I drafted the young forward in the 8th round at 111th overall in my one year league.
The Stars center had 41 points in his first season in the NHL during 2009-10. Then last season, in his sophomore year, he put up 56 points despite playing only 69 games. This year, Benn already has 19 points after 16 games, and it looks like the 22 year old is set for NHL stardom. Benn's 19 points along with his +7 rating have both helped the Stars surprise the hockey world as they sit at 2nd place in the Western Conference. Dallas' record is 5-0-0 when Benn has recorded a multi-point game.
"Things are going pretty good right now," Benn said after a 5-2 win over the Caps on Tuesday. "I think it's because we're playing a simple game and playing the right way. Guys are having fun and we're all buying in and getting big points on the road."
When you watch Jamie Benn beat four defenders, or pull an amazing deke on a goalie, or even drop the gloves with Jarome Iginla, you can just tell he's got some serious talent. Actually, the young star is on pace for 97 points this season. The left winger's got a great career ahead of him.

Dallas Stars 1 - Pittsburgh Penguins 3
Coming into this game, I was worried about two things for Dallas. I was worried about Pittsburgh's suffocating defense and how good they were on the power-play. The Penguins used their defense and special teams to beat the Stars 3-1 last night.
Dallas could never really get going in this game and it was apparent from puck drop to...

Dallas Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski could be out up to four weeks with a broken thumb.
The Dallas Stars are off to their best start in five years but didn't show a strong ability to finish over the weekend. Being back home could bring about better results.
The Stars look to continue their best home start in nearly a decade Tuesday night and prevent the Florida Panthers from winning four consecutive road games for the first time since 2009-10.

The Stars have a short rest from last night's game as they take on the Detroit Red Wings on the final game in their four-game road trip tonight. Dallas is coming off a tough game last night, one in which they lost Alex Goligoski to a broken thumb...
So what happened?
The Stars were lucky enough to get the first goal on a defensive breakdown by Kris Letang. He didn't cover Nystrom going to the net, and when Dvorak made a great backhand pass from a bad angle, Nystrom buried it. The problem was that the Stars then tried to win a 1-0 hockey game. That works if you're late in the second or in the third period, but...
